Monnette All In and Behind

John Monnette raised before the flop, and only Scott Clements came along from the big blind position.

The flop came {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}, and Clements check-called a bet from Monnette. Fourth street was the {A-Hearts}, and Clements checked again. Monnette bet, and Clements check-raised to put his opponent to the test. Monnette put in his remaining 50,000, putting himself all in with that call.

Showdown
Clements: {2-Spades} {3-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades}
Monnette: {3-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {J-Spades}

Clements had flopped the straight and had the better low as the cards lay. Monnette would need some help to stay alive, and the {5-Spades} was a good card on the river, making him the same straight as Clements. Monnette will get one quarter of the pot, staying alive by the skin of his teeth.
