Day 2 Awaits

As tables keep finishing, tomorrow's starting field keeps filling up.

On Table 3, William Vechnak earned his return when his opponent shoved preflop with {A-?}{5-?} and he called with {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. A board filled with picture cards didn't hurt Vechnak's hand, and he moved on.

Also advancing to Day 2 are:

Jason Somerville - Table 15
Jared Hamby - Table 83
Gary Frierson - Table 79
Matt Stout - Table 168
Nick Binger - Table 175
Antoine Amorette - Table 182
Tim Kahlmeyer - Table 183
Nathan Tuthill - Table 158
John Michael - Table 91
Jared Davis - Table 17
Quinn Do - Table 27

We Have Two More Winners

Tables are ending at a rapid pace now, with Gary Tang taking the victory at Table 44 and Matt Woodward advancing from Table 18.

Meanwhile, over at Table 37, Max Pescatori's day ended early when he busted in third place.

Moving On

At Table 34, Alex Bolotin defeated Kirill Gerasimov after they got all in before the flop.

Bolotin: {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Gerasimov: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

When the board came {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Bolotin's ace played and he moved on to the round of 100.

Also advancing to Day 2 are Anh Van Nguyen on Table 35, Michael Simhai on Table 46 and Steven Fung on Table 1.

Battling On

In two more heads-up battles around the room, Gary Tang is sitting on a 6-1 chip lead at Table 44 while Jason Somerville is sitting on 3-1 over his opponent at Table 15.

Two More Players Advance

Greg Thorson was the last man standing on Table 40 while John Dolan outlasted the competition on Table 24.

Both players are now assured of cashing for at least $5,236 when they return tomorrow.

Four Kings Good for Tran

Theo Tran and his opponent got their stacks into the middle on the river of a board that read {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

When his opponent showed {A-?}{2-?}, Tran showed the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}, which was more than enough to win the pot and take the chip lead with 26,300.

Smurfit Takes the Chip Lead

Alan Smurfit and his opponent got all in on a flop of {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Smurfit showed {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and was behind his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, but the turn of {10-Spades} put Smurfit ahead and he held on when the {J-Diamonds} landed on the river.

Smurfit now has a 4-1 lead on his opponent.

Short Handed Updates

While many tables are now heads up, there are plenty of others around the room with three or more players remaining.

At Table 170, Mike Sowers is somewhat short stacked at 9,500 in three-handed play while Victor Ramdin is sitting comfortably with 18,200 at a four-handed table. Also comfortable is David Pham with a stack of 14,300 in three-handed play.

Heads-Up Battles

Three of the current heads-up battles going on around the room involve some better known players.

At Table 176, Dennis Phillips and his opponent are both about equally stacked, with approximately 20,000 chips each. In more comfortable situations are Theo Tran, who has a 3-1 chip lead over his opponent at Table 23 and Jared Hamby has a 5-1 chip lead over his opponent at Table 83.

Alan Smurfit has also just gotten to heads-up play with a stack of about 17,000.
