Day 2 Set To Get Underway

The players are taking their seats and unbagging their chips in preparation for Day 2 of Event #25 of the WSOP. It's Omaha/Seven Card Card Hi/Lo fun, with 153 players returning with the goal of reaching the final table by the end of the day.

They'll need to get part our chip leader, Can Hua who ended the day on top of the tree with 51,800. However there are several big names lurking in the wings with the likes of Phil Ivey, Chau Giang, Chad Brown, Scott Clements, Jen Harman and Gavin Smith ready to pounce.

Australian born Jeff Lisandro is the first notable casualty of Day 2 play. He entered today with only 3,600 chips and busted when he bricked out holding a nut flush and nut low draw, as his opponent made two pair to scoop the pot.

Ivey made a seven-high straight and six-low to scoop as his opponent could only muster two pair.

Chasing his second bracelet of the series, Ivey is well placed with 40,000 chips.

New Lee-der

Chips are changing hands in pots of 15k+ quite regularly now. CK Hua has been bumped from the top spot by Ming Lee who just won a 19k pot from Glenn Cozen in the Stud 8-or-better.

There was some dwelling going on on the river with Lee showing [XXX]{5-Spades} {6-Spades} {8-Hearts} {9-Spades} . He'd bet, and Cozen was considering the call, having invested about half his stack in the pot so far. He made the call but mucked when Lee showed his {10-Spades} {2-Spades} {6-Hearts} for the flush.

In the space of 15 minutes, we've lost Swede Chris Bjorin and Norwegian Jan Sjavik. They represented a pretty high percentage of Scandinavians in the event - possibly the full whack.

Sjavik, who'd showed calm stoicism in the face of hours of short stack grinding and splitting late last night, finally got it in in Omaha hi-lo against two opponents. He'd raised preflop committing 1,600 and leaving himself just 500 behind. Button James Covington called, as did big blind Jennifer Harman.

The rest went in on the {6-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {Q-Hearts} flop, while the others checked down the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {3-Diamonds} river. Harman now showed first - {J-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {K-Hearts} which turned out to be good. The others mucked, and Sjavik headed for the rail.
