Barry Shulman is a Card Player

We caught this hand while wandering the floor.

With blinds at 25/50, two players in middle position limped into the pot, as did Barry Shulman from the button. Scott Clements made the call from the small blind and we saw a flop of {J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

Clements bet the flop and got two calls before Barry raised it up from the button. Clements and one other player folded, taking us to the turn heads up. When his opponent checked the {7-Spades} on the turn, Barry bet and got a call.

Both players checked the river when the {7-Clubs} paired the board, and chopped the pot when Shulman turned over {A-Clubs} {2-Spades} for the low, while his opponent turned over {8-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} for the 9-high straight.

At the end of the hand, Shulman was sitting on about 4,600 chips while Clements' stack had shrunk to about 3,100.

The Largest Ever?

Mike "The Mouth" Matusow was overheard chatting it up with some of his tablemates. The topic of conversation was the size of today's field. Matusow mentioned that he thinks today's tournament will produce the largest Omaha-8 or Better field ever.

The field size currently sits at 903 entrants, and climbing.

Matusow has also been kind enough to sign some copies of his new book for his competitors.

Mike Matusow is Not Barry Greenstein

If you've ever knocked Barry Greenstein out of a tournament, you know two things. He'll take his beat like a gentleman, and he'll give you a bounty - a signed copy of his book, Ace on the River.

Mike Matusow is playing in the Brasilia room with a copy of his new book, Check Raising the Devil, sitting on the table in front of him. When asked if he was giving the book away as bounty, he responded "Nope, I'm selling them. Everyone at this table already bought a copy."

It's nice to see Mike has a new career path if he ever decides to walk away from poker.
