Another Pot to Evans

Paul Evans
Paul Evans
Stud Hi/Lo:

Malcolm: x-x / {A-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} / x
Evans: x-x / {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {4-Spades} / x

Don't count out Paul Evans just yet. He played a pot with Bryan Malcolm, calling bets on fourth and fifth street then checking the lead on sixth street. Malcolm checked behind.

Down the river, Evans led out. Malcolm called and then arched his eyebrows in surprise when Evans opened {4-?} {7-?} {7-?} in the hole for a full house.

"Full house!" said Malcolm. "Wow! I did not see that coming." Malcolm had no low, allowing Evans to scoop the pot.

A Curious Line for Evans

Hold'em:

"Wow, you must live right, brother," said Mitch Schock, clapping his hands after Bryan Micon dragged a pot to double-up without showdown. Micon was in the small blind and three-bet preflop after Paul Evans raised the button. Evans four-bet, drawing a capping raise from Micon. Evans called.

The flop came down {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {6-Clubs}. Micon bet and Evans called. It was the same action on the {9-Hearts} turn. Before the river fell, Micon announced "All in dark for 6,000." The river was the {J-Hearts}. Evans peeked back at his cards once... and then mucked! Micon dragged the 142,000-chip pot with a grin like the cat that ate the canary.

Dustin Bryan Crippled, Then Eliminated in 15th Place ($7,903)

Dustin Bryan - 15th Place
Dustin Bryan - 15th Place
Hold'em:

Dustin Bryan raised and then Shannon Shorr reraised. Bryan made the call. On the flop of {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, Bryan check-called a bet from Shorr. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Bryan emphatically grabbed a stack of chips and bet out. Shorr raised and Bryan called.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Bryan check-called another bet from Shorr, leaving himself with 4,000 chips left. Shorr showed {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} and Bryan showed two jacks.

On the next hand, Bryan put the rest of his chips in after Ron "Schifty" Schiffman opened with a raise. James Van Alstyne and Farzad Rouhani were also in the hand.

The board ran out {K-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {5-Spades} {K-Spades} with everyone checking down to the river. On the river, Schiffman bet and Van Alstyne and Rouhani both folded. Schiffman showed pocket nines and then Bryan mucked, wished the table good luck, and made his exit.

He held {8-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Spades} and Evans held {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}.

The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Evans was able to scoop the pot with a pair of eights and a live three for the low.

Marmorstein Misses a Bet

Razz:

Evans: x-x / A-5-A-10 / x
Marmorstein: x-x / 7-2-7-Q / x

Paul Evans led the betting the whole way against Phillip Marmorstein. He bet fourth street and was called; both players checked fifth street. Evans fired again on sixth street and one last time on the river.

Down the river, Marmorstein squeezed his cards and then called. Evans knew he was beat when he opened 8-9-9 in the hole for 10-9-8-5-A; Marmorstein showed down 6-5-3 for 7-6-5-3-2. He may not have gotten a call from Evans with a raise, but we were very surprised to see him just call behind in that spot.

Regardless, Marmorstein dragged the pot.
