Ochana Hangs On

With 38 players left, it's a desperate battle for the short stacks to hang on right now. Edward Ochana managed to double up in a four-way pot. He bet pot, 24,000, on a flop of {9-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {2-Spades}, then called all in for 3,000 more after Adam Hourani raised to isolate and drove everyone else out of the pot. Ochana and Hourani had similar hands: {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} {4-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} for Ochana, {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {7-Spades} {6-Clubs} for Hourani. It was Ochana making a wheel with the {3-Diamonds} turn, then dodging Hourani's re-draw with the river {K-Spades} to take down the pot.

Thomas Slips into the Void

Harry Thomas held on, and held on, and held on some more, but he finally lost his grip on this tournament. Thomas was all in preflop with {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} and was called by Matt Giannetti's {K-Spades} {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. A board of {10-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {3-Spades} {J-Clubs} {6-Hearts} gave each player a pair. Giannetti's aces were the boss hand, sending Thomas to the rail in 38th place.

We are on the bubble.

Tex Barch Bubbles

On a board of {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} Tex Barch is all in against Richard Austin.

Barch: {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts} for a made straight with a flush draw
Austin: {7-Spades} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {3-Spades} for a lower straight and a heart flush draw

The river brings the {2-Hearts} giving Austin a straight flush to eliminate Tex Barch on the bubble.

The First Eliminations

No sooner than the bubble burst and we had our first eliminations. Justin "BoostedJ" Smith was the first player out, losing to Felipe Ramos and being eliminated in 36th place. A few minutes later, Steve Sarrafzadeh was all in with {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} against Samuel Ngai's {K-Clubs} {9-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {K-Hearts}. Ngai flopped a set and a straight, {10-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds}.

But Ngai was drawing live and turned the {9-Diamonds} for a diamond flush. But the board paired jacks on the river, giving Ngai a full house and the best hand. Sarrafzadeh is eliminated in 35th place.

Jeff Lisandro Crippled

After a flop of {A-Clubs} {10-Spades} {7-Diamonds} Jonathan Cantor is all in for 77,000 against Jeff Lisandro.

Cantor: {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} - Aces and Tens
Lisandro: {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} - Wrap draw

The board fills out {A-Clubs} {10-Spades} {7-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and Cantor doubles up with a full house.

Cantor - 160,000
Lisandro - 2,000

Huge Pot for Mizzi

Right before the players went on dinner break, Sorel Mizzi doubled up through Ralph Perry in one of the biggest pots of the tournament so far. Perry raised pot preflop from the cutoff and was called by Mizzi on the button.

With the flop coming down {10-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}, Perry check-called 20,500 from Mizzi. Mizzi's bet of 52,000 on the {5-Clubs} turn was again check-called by Perry, taking the two players to the river.

The river card was the {J-Hearts}. Perry checked one more time, then tanked when Mizzi moved all in for 103,000. Perry eventually called, but mucked when Mizzi showed {J-Spades} {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}. He had flopped the nuts.

After the stacks were exchanged, Mizzi was up to 375,000 and Perry was down to 177,000.
