Harman on a High

Thor Hansen limped in from under the gun, then Jennifer Harman raised from middle position. The button and Joe Cassidy (big blind) called, as did Hansen.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. It checked to Harman who bet, and it folded back around to Hansen who called. Hansen also check-called Harman's bets after the {8-Hearts} turn and {K-Diamonds} river.

Harman showed {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for the rivered full house, and Hansen mucked. Harman is now back up to 17,500.

Tough Turn for Tom, Terrific for Turner

Limit Hold'em

The table folded around to Phil Tom who raised from the small blind, and Jon Turner called from the BB.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Tom bet, and Turner called. The turn was the {5-Clubs}. Tom bet again, and this time Turner raised. Tom just called.

The river was the {9-Clubs}, and Tom check-called Turner's bet. Tom showed {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds} -- he'd flopped a wheel. But Turner had {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} -- he'd turned the better straight.

Tom has 7,600 now, and Turner just over 12,000.

Phil Ivey's stay was brief. Already getting low on chips, Ivey raised before the first draw from early position, Victor Ramdin reraised from the button, and Ivey called. Both drew two cards, then Ivey bet and Ramdin called. On the second draw, Ivey stood pat and Ramdin drew one. Again Ramdin called Ivey's bet.

On the last draw, Ivey again stood pat and Ramdin again drew one. Ivey bet, and when Ramdin called Ivey motioned as if to say by calling Ramdin had it. Ramdin turned over {9-?}{7-?}{5-?}{4-?}{2-?}, and Ivey mucked, down to just 150 chips.

On the next hand, Ivey was all in, and ended up losing to Mike Wattel's 7-low. Ivey is out.

Not Getting Out of Harman's Way

Jennifer Harman raised from early position (to 300). The fact that Harman authored the chapter on limit hold'em in Super/System 2 didn't deter the player in the hijack seat who reraised (to 450). It folded back around to Harman who made the call.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Harman checked, her opponent bet, she check-raised, and he called. The turn was the {3-Hearts}. Harman led this time with a bet, and her opponent called.

The river was the {7-Clubs}. Again Harman bet, he called. She showed {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, but was beaten by her opponent's {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

Harman still has about 12,500.
