Jason Mercier raised to 1,750 from the hijack seat before Adam Friedman made the call from the cutoff. The two players took a flop of . Mercier fired a continuation bet of 2,650. Friedman called.
The turn brought the and again Mercier fired. He made it 4,700 to go after some deliberation. Almost immediately, Friedman asked how much Mercier had behind. "About 9,000." responded Jason.
Friedman then stuck out enoughc hips to put Mercier all in. The proud Miami Dolphins fan, Mercier, folded. Soon thereafter, he was eliminated from the tournament in unknown action.
Vanessa Rousso was all in preflop against Keith Lehr. Lehr held pocket queens to Rousso's jacks. Lehr was yelling the entire time for a jack. Even Todd Brunson joined in and yelled for a jack to come off as well. The poker gods must have been busy because no jacks fell on the board and Rousso was eliminated.
"Thanks for rooting for me." she said as she exited the room with much more of a smile than expected.
Aces didn't work for Bonomo, but they are for everyone else, it seems.
A short-stacked Alex Kravchenko was just eliminated by Rami Boukai after the latter's pocket aces held up against Kravchenko's all-in. Boukai now has 38,000.
And Esther Taylor just used pocket aces to double through to 8,000 against Tuan Le's A-J after the flop came jack-high.
Justin Bonomo had both Tuan Le and Richard Toth all in before the flop. Bonomo held , Le had , and Toth .
The flop brought sets to both of Bonomo's opponents -- . The turn was the and the river the , and Le bounces back up to 44,000. Bonomo falls to 9,000, and Toth hits the rail.
Table #170 includes Gavin Smith, Jacobo Fernandez, Stefan Rapp, and Felipe Ramos among others and some recent action went down in a couple of hands involving all of those players.
On the first hand, Fernandez was involved with Smith and Ramos. The three players built the pot up to about 20,000 chips before Smith ducked out on seventh street. On the end, Fernandez got one more bet in and was called by Ramos. Fernandez held three pair, deuces, threes, and fours, but we'll only count the threes and fours. Ramos mucked his hand and Jacobo scooped in the pot to move to 24,000.
On the next hand, Smith was involved again. This time, he was up against Rapp. Rapp scooped the entire pot with aces up and moved up to 38,000 chips. Smith dropped down to 12,300 chips after these two hands.
Three players, including Vanessa Rousso and Diego Cordovez, had made it to fifth street. By sixth the third had dropped out, and there was a decent-sized pot in the middle as Cordovez was showing (X)(X) and Rousso (X)(X). Rousso checked, Cordovez bet, and Rousso called.
The dealer dealt seventh street, and again Rousso called Cordovez's bet. Cordovez showed for queens and nines, and Rousso tossed her down cards to the dealer face up -- two fours and an eight (a lesser two pair, and no low).
"I can never make a low," she said. Rousso is at 8,500, while Cordovez is up to 41,500.
