Event 46 Kicks Off

Afternoon folks, we're a mere 40 minutes away from the start of this $2,500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better mouthful of a tournament.

Only 178 registered so far, but the dealers seem to be sticking together about three times that number of starting stacks, so as always, expect numbers to absolutely explode before level two is out.

See you shortly...

Who's Here So Far?

It's an eclectic and international field that's made it here on time for level one.

Representing America, we have Annie Duke, Mike Matusow, Michael Binger, Kelly Kim, Jim Geary and Lisa Parsons.

From the UK, we have one James "Flushy" Dempsey, and from Ireland, Mr John O'Shea.

Over to South America, and representing Brazil we have Maridu Mayrinck in the house.

If well-dressed Dutchmen is your thing, Marcel Luske is here, and if you prefer Germans, there's always Michael Keiner.

For those who like it French, there's Gallic veteran Paul Testud. And representing Norway, Messrs Thor Hansen and Jan Sjavik.

...And obviously, the tables aren't full yet...

Wait! There's More!

Well, obviously. The following have all been spotted in the Brasilia Room:

- Young Phan
- John Racener and his super-spiky hairdo
- Soheil Shamseddin
- Kristy Gazes
- Chau Giang

- Scott Clements

What's Up With Miami John?

Hmm, not a good day for Miami John Cernuto over in the other tournament. He seems to have collapsed and been carted out on a stretcher, although he was recovering a bit by the time they carried him away...

Three-Way Action for Judah

Three-way action in here already, with Mel Judah in the small blind calling a bet from under the gun on a {10-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} flop, and the gent in the big blind calling too.

The action on the {A-Spades} turned checked around to Mr Under The Gun again and once more he bet; once more Judah called, but this time the big blind raised. Both Mr Under The Gun and Judah called, and they saw an {8-Hearts} river, which appears to have had minimal action on it.

When the cards were turned over, Messrs Big Blind and Under The Gun chopped the high, but Judah picked up a fair few chips by taking the low.

Judah: {3-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Mr Big Blind: {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs}
Mr Under The Gun: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

Loking Rosy for Sasha

A pot for the transatlantic Sasha Rosewood (American apparently living in the UK). In a threeway pot, he called a bet on the {K-?} {5-?} {5-?} flop, and then all three players checked down the {9-?} turn and {8-?} river. "I have a king," Rosewood announced at the end of the hand, and indeed his single king was enough to take the pot.

Table Of Considerable Doom

Woe betide any poor try-their-luck tourist who fancied a shot at a bracelet and now finds themselves seated at table 184 -- seats 7, 8 and 9 are currently occupied by respectively Kristy Gazes, Todd Brunson and Gavin Smith. Good luck, everyone there!
