Jason Gray (X)(X) (X)
Justin Smith (X)(X) (X)
Hasan Habib (X)(X) (X)
There was already a huge pot brewing when we picked this hand up on fifth street. Jason Gray bet out, Justin Smith raised, Hasan Habib called and Gray called. Gray led out again on sixth. After tanking for a bit, Justin Smith decided to raise, Hasan Habib three-bet, Gray four-bet, Smith called and Habib capped it at five bets. Both players called. On seventh street the action checked to Habib, who bet. Gray called and Smith again went into the tank.
"I need a minute. Sorry guys," said Smith as he pondered his decision. He ended up making the call.
Gray showed for aces up and a 7-6-4-3-A low. Habib had him, though with for a wheel. Smith mucked and Habib scooped a huge pot, taking his stack up to 280,000. Smith was down to 217,400 while Gray was at 110,500.
We just overheard Daniel Negreanu asking Tony G about ChipMeUp.com. It appears Negreanu didn't know much about the staking and backing website and was interested to find out more. Maybe CMU members should keep an eye out for Negreanu listing events in the near future!
John Juanda raised from the cutoff, Gabe Kaplan made it three bets from the big blind and Kaplan called. Kaplan led out on the flop and Juanda called. The turn was the and Kaplan bet again. Juanda called. The river fell the and Kaplan fired a third time. Juanda called.
Stud-8 seemed to be the flavor of the day as most of the big pots contested today have been in this discipline. We've just witnessed another as Steve Sung got the better of Barry Greenstein.
Sung: (X-X) (X)
Greenstein: (X-X) (X)
Greenstein completed, Sung led on fourth before Greenstein took over to lead the betting all the way to a showdown. However Greenstein mucked when Sung revealed (-X) for trips to take it down.
Mike Matusow completed before Alex Kravchenko raised. Cory Zeidman called as did Matusow.
On fourth street, Matusow led out before Kravchenko raised. Zeidman folded when he bricked before Matusow raised again. Kravchenko called.
On fifth Kravchenko bet and Matusow called, with the same scenario on sixth. On the river Kravchenko fired again to send Matusow into the tank. After three minutes of thought he folded (-X) face up.
"Show the bluff. Great for game. Great for game!" laughed Abe Mosseri, but Kravchenko just gave a smile and mucked.
