Aces Cracked; Shelton Eliminated

Kenneth Shelton raised the minimum to 4,000 from the button and both the Thibaut Durand in the small blind and the big blind called.

The flop came {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {6-Spades} . Durand checked, the button bet 13,000 and Shelton called. Action was back on Durand who moved all in for 51,500. The big blind re-shipped and made it 95,500. Shelton called all in.

Durand: {5-Hearts} {4-Hearts} Flush draw with two undercards to the board. Running straight draw possibilities.
Big blind: {K-Spades} {9-Clubs} Top two pair
Shelton: {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} Over pair to the board.

The board filled out {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {6-Spades} {J-Hearts} {8-Spades} giving Durand a flush and the main pot to triple up to 170,000. The big blind took the side pot and Kenneth Shelton is eliminated from the tournament.

Slaubaugh Slinging Chips

We join a heads-up hand on the turn with the board showing {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Hearts}. Action is on Steve Van Zadelhoff, and he checked. Cody Slaubaugh made a bet of 18,800, and Van Zadelhoff came along.

The river was the {4-Clubs}. Van Zadelhoff bet out this time, firing 24,000 chips at the pot. Slaubagh thought for a moment before moving all in, and Van Zadelhoff eventually released his hand, saving himself 47,000 chips. Slaubagh, on the other hand, is all the way up to 280,000, our apparent chip leader.

Amnon Filippi Eliminated

Amnon Filippi
Amnon Filippi
Amnon Filippi started the day with just under 80,000 but couldn't get much going during the first two levels of play.

Action folded around to the big blind who raised to 6,000. Amnon Filippi reraised all in for 11,000 total from the small blind. The big blind folded and the button made the call.

Amnon: {A-Spades} {5-Spades}
Button: {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}

The board came {Q-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} eliminating Amnon Filippi from the tournament. He will collect $3,036 for his efforts.

Braband Works a Double

Tom Braband's stack hasn't moved much so far today... until now.

Before the flop, Braband got it all in for about 63,000 against one other opponent. Braband held {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}, in fine shape for a double versus the {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} of his opponent. When the board ran down {J-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, Braband did just that, doubling up to 132,000.

Doug Kim On The Short Stack

A player opened the pot for a 5,000 raise and another player in late position made the call. Doug Kim moved all in from the big blind. The original raiser got out of the way and the late position player made the call for his tournament life.

Kim: {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}
Late Position: {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

The board came {Q-Spades} {j-Hearts} {4-Spades} {K-Spades} {9-Clubs} giving Kim's opponent a pair of kings and the pot. Doug Kim, who finished in 7th place at the 2006 WSOP Main Event, is down to his last 13,000.

Reitman Goes Wrong

A player in middle position opened with a raise holding {5-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Joe Reitman looked down at {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} and moved all in over the top. When it folded back around to the pocket fives, he made the call to put Reitman on the ropes.

The board ran dry, coming {8-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {4-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. Failing to improve his overcards, Reitman has been sent to the exit.

Fives Find the Flop

Men Nguyen was up against an all-in player who held {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} before the flop. The Master looked to be donating a double up as he tabled {A-Spades} {5-Spades}, but the dealer had other ideas.

The flop rolled out {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} to vault The Master into a huge lead. The {3-Clubs} on the turn opened the door though, as his opponent had picked up a flush draw. The river was a blank though, as the {6-Diamonds} spelled the end for another player.

With that knockout, Nguyen has moved up to 145,000 just in time to order another beer from the cocktail server.
