Stern and Low

A small loss for Max Stern as he made it all the way to 7th street, then let Halpern pick up the pot.

Halpern: {Q-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {9-Hearts} ({Q-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {5-Spades})
Stern: {5-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} ({6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} and he mucked the last one)

-----

Stern chopped a hand with William Kohler after that, but then got involved with Kohler a second time not long after.

They made it as far as 6th street, Kohler betting all the way, before Stern folded. He's now down to 100,000, while Kohler is up to 1.05 million.

Stern: {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {3-Hearts}
Kohler: {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}

Max Stern Eliminated in 3rd Place ($64,484)

Not so Stern after all
Not so Stern after all
Max Stern lost another (relative) biggie, when his eight-low and ace-ten high got scooped by David Halpern's six-low and ace-jack high.

Down to just 10,000 after that, Stern had little hope of recovering and got his last in the next hand; both his opponents called.

Stern: {7-Spades} {10-Spades} {2-Hearts} {7-Clubs} (mucked)
Halpern: {10-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {J-Spades} {9-Spades} ({10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds})
Kohler: {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {K-Spades} ({A-Clubs} {5-Spades} {2-Clubs})

To a round of applause, we lose our last Costa Rican, and we are heads up.

Kohler Caller

David Halpern bet all the way down, and William Kohler called him on every street -- most excellently, as Halpern just mucked on 7th street.

Halpern: {10-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} (muck)
Kohler: {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades} {J-Spades} ({7-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts}) for a straight

Even Stevens for Our Heads-Upsers

Kohler bet all the way and Halpern called, but mucked when Kohler turned over kings and threes.

Kohler: {K-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} ({K-Spades} {3-Clubs} {A-Hearts})
Halpern: {2-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} (muck)

Halpern turned his attention to his phone for a moment, stepping away from the table.

"Is that your wife texting you to tell you to play better?" asked Kohler.

We're back to more or less even.

Super-Mega-Ultra-Fast Play

It's actually getting pretty difficult to keep up with scribbling down hands, they're playing that fast.

"How would TV like it if they played hold'em this fast?" commented Kohler. "Slow down! We can't keep up!"

It's tough work, but our remaining two are showing an admirable determination to get this over and done with as soon as possible, for which the bloggers commend them.
