"COCKTAILS!!!" came the unmistakable voice of Tim Vance. That's a man who really, really needs a drink. He seems to have dropped right down to 6,500 -- the actual circumstances of this are a little hazy, but he informs us that it was a single enormous hand that did the damage...
Justin Bonomo is down to 11,000 after getting involved in a three-way pot. Bonomo was betting all the way and one player folded on fifth street but the other called him all the way down to scoop the pot out of Bonomo's hands.
"Yeah, I've got a nice, easy table," lied Steve Jelinek at the break. He apparently got straight off the plane and immediately went to play the PLO 8 the other day, and promptly managed to make the final table, finishing sixth. Fine work.
For this tournament, though, he's having a rather tough time -- his table currently features Andy Bloch, Daniel Negreanu, David Sklansky who wrote the book on this game, and Scott Bohlman who recently came third in the O8.
"Oh well," he said, "At least it means I won't have played any No Limit Hold'em tournaments before the main event."
Andreas Krause is down to 8,000 after betting out on fourth street and getting called in two spots, then calling bets on fifth, sixth and seventh (the third player dropped out on fifth street). "Flush," announced his opponent, and Krause took a moment to stare forlornly at the his down cards before mucking.
