MMA Talk

The buzz around this tournament seems to be away from the felt and geared towards MMA fighting. Robert Mizrachi, Erick Lindgren, Gavin Smith, Gavin Griffin, Howard Lederer, and Erik Seidel are all in on the debate even though they are seated at three different tables.

Tracey Rockin' and Rollin'

An early-position player raised to 850 and Tracey "xTraCey" Nguyen called from the button. The big blind called as well.

The big blind drew one, the preflop raiser drew two, and then Nguyen drew one. After the draw, action checked to Nguyen and she fired 2,000 into the middle. The big blind folded, but the other player called.

Tracey showed {8-?} {7-?} {5-?} {3-?} {2-?} to scoop the pot and move up to 13,000 chips.

Hellmuth Making Some Moves

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth
Three people were in on the action for a 600-chip raise pre-draw. Hellmuth was first to act and drew two cards. The next player drew one and the final player drew two. After the draw, Hellmuth fired 600 and the second player to act made the call. The other player mucked.

Hellmuth showed {K-?} {7-?} {6-?} {5-?} {3-?} and his opponent held {A-?} {8-?} {5-?} {4-?} {2-?}. Hellmuth won the hand and moved up to 4,000 chips.

Shortly thereafter, Hellmuth moved all in after a raise and a call occurred in front of him. Everyone folded and the pot was good enough to put Hellmuth up to nearly 8,000 chips.

Rheem and Raymer Bust

David "Chino" Rheem
David "Chino" Rheem
David "Chino" Rheem and Greg Raymer were just recently eliminated. Raymer was drawing dead against his opponent's {7-?} {6-?} {5-?} {4-?} {2-?}, despite making his eight-six low on the draw.

Chino on the other hand, went out in somewhat of an unlucky fashion. After he was all in and drawing two cards against one single opponent, the dealer slid two cards back over to Rheem. Before Chino could pick up the cards, the dealer grabbed one of them back and swept it into the muck. The floor was called over and it was ruled that Chino could keep the four cards in his hand. For his fifth card, the entire deck would be shuffled and he would be given another draw card.

"So, I'm could get one of their muck cards?" Chino asked, to which the floor nodded his head.

Chino was then dealt a card, but checked to see what the other card was that he drew. With his opponent holding a seven low, Chino knew he was dead when the draw card was a jack. He mucked his hand and walked to the rail.

Flack Loses Some of His Stack; The Other Mizrachi Busts

From middle position, Layne Flack raised to 1,350. The button reraised to 4,000 and Layne made the call. Flack drew one, as did his opponent.

After the draw, Flack checked and his opponent bet 4,000. Flack made the call and then mucked when his opponent showed {8-?} {7-?} {7-?} {5-?} {3-?}. Flack dropped to 14,500.

Robert Mizrachi was eliminated on another table around the same time.

Not So Tiny Danzer

The player under the gun made it 800 and George Danzer called from late position. The first player drew one while Danzer stood pat. Both players then checked after the draw.

Danzer revealed {J-?} {9-?} {8-?} {5-?} {4-?} and beat his opponent's {7-?} {5-?} {4-?} {4-?} {3-?} to move up to 33,000 chips.
