Live Poker is So Rigged

As of the start of Level 3, we have 81 confirmed entrants for this year's Ante Up for Africa tournament. It seems that Andy Bloch has brought his iPad to the tournament. He's also landed on the same table as his lady-love, Jen Creason. "Raise your hand if you think he has a gambling problem," said MC Brad Garrett.

Montel Williams was seated next to Bloch. While Garrett was there entertaining the crowd, Williams moved all in and Creason called. "You're not going to knock him out on your birthday, are you?" Garrett asked Creason. In fact Creason did. Her ace-jack was victorious over Williams and sent him on to his next charity tournament at the Hard Rock.

The 'Real' Hachem Exits

Joe Hachem moved all in from under the gun for his last 2,200 and found a caller from an opponent in the small blind.

Hachem: {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The flop of {9-Spades}{2-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} put Hachem in front, but the {8-Clubs} on the turn would end his tournament.

The river fell the meaningless {9-Clubs} to see another Hachem bite the dust!

Duke Doubles

Annie Duke and Shannon Elizabeth
Annie Duke and Shannon Elizabeth

Annie Duke moved all in and Shannon Elizabeth made the call.

Duke: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Elizabeth: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} to see Elizabeth crippled to 4,200 as Duke climbs to over 13,000 in chips.

"How did you like that one Joe?" Brad Garrett asked Joe Reitman since Duke is his current partner, while Elizabeth is his ex.

"I bet your attorney likes it!" Garrett added.

Happy Birthday Montel?

It either is, or is not, Montel Williams' birthday today (we really don't trust anything that Brad Garrett has to say while he's doing his shtick on the mic). But Garrett recently led the whole assemblage in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday on Williams' behalf. While that was going on Williams doubled up with {a-}{9-} against pocket fives, a birthday gift during his birthday song. Williams is up to 8,700.

Damon Back in the Game

Matt Damon is seated on Table 73. It's no surprise that the rail on that side of the room has "bowed", with people trying to push in to get a better look at the superstar actor. He recently doubled up by getting all in with {a-}{10-} ("the Ivey Hand, ok," said Brad Garret). Damon flopped an ace but his opponent turned trips. No problem for Mike McD -- he rivered the full house.

We're in the process of obtaining a full draw from the WSOP staff, but for now check the chip counts page to see who's here.

Phillips Doubles Through Gordon

Phil Gordon opened to 900 and Carter Phillips made the call.

The flop fell {9-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Gordon fired out 1,000 only to have Phillips make it 3,000.

Gordon then moved all in and Phillips instantly made the call to put Phillips at risk.

Gordon: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Phillips: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The turn and river landed the meaningless {4-Spades} and {8-Clubs} to see Phillips double through to 16,000 as Gordon slips to 9,000 in chips.

We're not sure if it was just a coincidence, or the fact that the dealer is a fan of Rounders, but the flop is very similar to the one that saw Mike McDermott lose his bankroll at the start of Rounders.

Why is this interesting?

Because Matt Damon is seated in the one seat!
