Kevin Chong Climbing Up

When we arrived at Table 12, Kevin Chong, who was under the gun, had 5,000 in the pot preflop when the player on the button reraised all in for another 5,000. Chong called, having the other player covered by a few thousand.

Chong's {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} weren't looking in the best of shape against his opponent's {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, though his fortune changed when the flop brought {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The turn was {j-Hearts} and the river was {j-Clubs}, and Chong was left with about 27,000 in chips.

Saito Shops at Sears

Isaac Sears raised to 825 from middle position before Dean Saito called from the small blind. The two players took a flop of {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Saito checked. Sears fried a continuation bet of 1,025 and Saito made the call.

The turn card added the {4-Diamonds} to the board and both players checked. After the {4-Spades} fell on the river, Saito fired 2,000. Sears took some time mulling over the decision and then mucked his hand. Saito improved to 13,700 chips while Sears dropped a little and is back at 22,000.

Big Stacks at Table 15

In a recent hand over at Table 15, Sam Sperrazza raised to 750 and was called by Nicholas Dipalo. When action got back around to the big blind, an unknown player pushed all-in for 5,000 more. Sperrazza made the call and Dipalo opted to get out of the way.

Sperrazza tabled {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} while his opponent sheepishly turned over {J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. The board ran out {5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Sperrazza increased his stack to 33,475 while eliminating another player. He'll have to look out for Dipalo though, who is sitting directly to his left with 21,300.

Jack McClelland Making Moves

Jack McClelland just knocked out two players in consecutive hands.

In the first hand, action was folded to McClelland, who was on the button, and he raised to 900. The small blind folded and the big blind called.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The player in the big blind checked and McClelland responded with a bet of 1,000. His opponent called.

The turn delivered the {8-Hearts} and the big blind went all in for his remaining 2,450 chips. McClelland tanked for a few minutes before calling. The big blind showed {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for bottom pair. Meanwhile McClelland turned over {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

The {a-Hearts} on the river was no help to the big blind player who was sent packing.

In the very next hand, the player acting under the gun went all in for 2,250. Action was folded to McClelland in the cutoff who called with {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and was behind his opponent's {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The flop brought a board reading {5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and things didn't look too good for McClelland. The {8-Diamonds} on the river was no help, but he completed a straight on the river with the {6-Diamonds}.

McClelland is now up to over 20,000 in chips.

Klick Doubles

From early position, Gerald Klick raised before Cindy Aly flatted. A player in middle position reraised and then a player in late position tanked and folded, later claiming to have held queens. When action got back to Klick, he moved all in. Aly folded after agonizing over her decision for a little while and then the next player that had reraised made the call.

Klick held two aces and was up against the pocket tens from his opponent. After the board ran out {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, Klick's aces improved to make a full house and he doubled up to roughly 5,000 chips.

Field Size Shrinking Rapidly

With the fairly fast structure in this event, players are hitting the rail left and right. Unlike most events where we will know many more names in the field, this event is hard to track with who busts and that's why we are displaying that there is still nearly all of the field left. Actually, the field is down to under 400 players already and it's only the fourth level of play. Just keep that in mind and bear with us. As the day moves on, we're picking up more and more names to track.

McClelland on the Rise

Jack McClelland
Jack McClelland

Over at Jack McClelland's table, the button and both blinds saw a limped flop of {5-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}. All players checked to the turn which came the {4-Hearts}. The player in the small blind led out for 500 and was called by McClelland. After the button folded, the {2-Clubs} hit the river and the small blind bet 1,200. McClelland reraised to 3,200, prompting his opponent to go into the tank. After a minute of so, the player folded and McClelland increase his stack to over 9,000.

Sumpter Doubles, Wilmot Avoids Disaster

George Sumpter flagged us over to his table moments ago saying, "You might want to get this one."

With a limp in front, Sumpter shoved for 1,300 from middle position and an opponent on the button re-shoved for over 3,000. The small blind folded, and Matthew Wilmot, who was sitting in the big blind, stood up and tanked for a few minutes. Finally, Wilmot mucked his cards and and the early-position limper did as well.

Sumpter tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and was racing against his opponent's {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

"I folded {A-}{K-}," Wilmot informed the table.

The {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop changed nothing, but the {Q-Hearts} on the turn gave Sumpter the lead. The river brought the {3-Spades} and Sumpter doubled to over 3,000 in chips.

As Sumpter stacked his new chips, Wilmot happily returned to his seat. He dodged a bullet that would have certainly crippled his chip stack.
