On a flop with about 35,000 in the middle, Manelic Minaya and Phil Hellmuth checked to see the turn card. Minaya bet 15,000 and Hellmuth called, landing the on the river. Minaya checked and Hellmuth checked behind, quietly tabling .
Minaya mucked and is down to 112,000, while Hellmuth chipped up to just over 100,000. Recent bracelet winner James Dempsey commented, "It must be nice to get those big pairs." Hellmuth responded, "I play the game differently than the rest of the world."
We have two more eliminations until we hit the money. As such, play has tightened up considerably around the tables. Two players will be going home very disappointed while everyone else will have 10,497 reasons to celebrate.
Tony "DrunkPPlaya" Gargano raised in early postion and Nico "mad.afurable" Behling shipped it in for 62,000 in late position. Gargano called and we had a race on our hands:
Gargano:
Behling:
The board ran down and Behling doubled to 135,000. Gargano dropped to 57,000.
Phil Hellmuth raised from under the gun to 8,000 before James Dempsey re-popped it to 23,000. The table folded around and action was back with Hellmuth.
Hellmuth thought for some time before deciding to fold face up!
Dempsey decided to show as well as he flashed ! Oops!
Isaac Baron and Annette Obrestad just got involved in a significant pot, the result of which has left Obrestad dangerously low on chips. They got it all in preflop and Obrestad held to Baron's . The board ran out as Baron made a pair of queens to chip up to about 200,000.
"I wonder if I can fold to the money now," said Obrestad. She is left with just about 2,000 with one elimination left until the money is reached.
