Mercier Busts Barbero

We joined the action on the flop in a heads-up pot with about 1,800 chips in the middle preflop. The dealer rolled out {5-Spades} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} to kick off the board, and Nacho Barbero check-called a bet of 1,150 from Jason Mercier.

Fourth street brought the {10-Diamonds} and another Barbero check, and he once again called a bet from Mercier -- 2,550 this time.

The last card off was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Barbero checked with 6,100 chips left in his stack. Mercier went ahead and made a covering bet of 12,500 to send Barbero deep into the think tank. He took a couple minutes to deliberate before making the call, and it was the wrong one.

Mercier turned up {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and his rivered pair of queens was the best hand. Barbero slung his cards into the muck, shook his head, and made his way out of the ropes.

Mercier is up to 31,000 after that knockout pot.
