Here Comes Ivey

Just before the break...

We walked up to a heads-up pot while the dealer was rolling out a flop of {8-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}. There was an unknown player to act, and he bet 1,200 chips at the pot. He was heads up against Phil Ivey, and Mr. Ivey quickly made the call.

The turn came the {K-Spades}, and it brought another leading bet from the unknown player -- 2,400 this time. Once more, Ivey came right along with the call.

The {7-Hearts} filled out the board, and the player moved all in for 10,500 total. Ivey quickly called with the covering stack, and his opponent showed up {10-Clubs} {6-Clubs} for the straight. It was no good; Ivey tabled {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds}, and his full house is best on that board, earning him the knockout and a chip boost up to 32,700.
