Welcome Back to Day 2!

Good afternoon from the Rio, and welcome back for day two of this $2,000 Limit Hold'em event. This event drew a field of 476 runners, and we've still got 144 fighting for the bracelet. This will be a big day as we play at least ten levels trying to reach our final table.

The chipleader is Joshua Honegger with 87,000 chips but there's a lot to play and the field has a lot of big names. Matt Glantz, Rep Porter, Shannon Shorr and Eric Buchman are all seated at the same table. Sorel MIzzi, Bob Lauria, Maria Ho and Liz Lieu are also in the field. Don't forget about Brock Parker or Ylon Schwartz either.

We're about twenty-five minutes away from our scheduled starting time of 2:30 p.m., and the final preparations are being made to the tournament tables here in the Red Section of the Amazon Room.

Level: 11

Blinds: 500/1,000

Shuffle Up and Deal!

The shuffling of chips can be heard in the front corner of the Amazon room as well as the riffling of the deck. The cards are now in the air for Day 2 of Event No. 18.

Quick Exits

Lex Veldhuis, Fred Smith and Mike Weathers have all made their exit to the rail in the early goings here. Here's Smith's elimination hand.

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, David Rood checked and Smith bet. Rood made the call and then the {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Rood was up first and fired a bet. Smith moved all in for half a bet more. Rood made the call. He held the {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives and the at-risk Smith held the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. The river was a blank, failing to improve Smith's hand and he was sent to the rail.

Nice Start for Donev

Ivo Donev opened the pot with a raise and Erich Buchman re-popped it. Donev called.

Flop: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Donev fired a bet and Buchamn raised. Donev called.

Turn: {8-Diamonds} Both players checked.

River: {3-Hearts} and Buchman called a bet from Donev.

Donev tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and took the pot.

Ferrari Loses Some Gas

Brent Courson raised from under the gun and Stuart Krasney called from the next seat. Flavio Ferrari was in the big blind and called as well.

After a flop of {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Ferrari checked, Courson bet, Krasney called and then Ferrari closed out the action with a call. On the turn, Ferrari fired first with a bet after the {9-Diamonds} fell. Courson called and Krasney folded. The river completed the board with the {10-Diamonds} and Ferrari checked. Courson fired and Ferrari folded.

Courson moved up to 33,500 and Ferrari slipped back to 21,000.

Wehrenberg Busts Fong with Quads

Joseph Chaplin raised, Kenneth Wehrenberg reraised and then Michael Fong called and was all in for less. Chaplin committed the three bets as well.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Chaplin checked. He folded after Wehrenberg bet and it was heads up betwee the all-in Fong and Wehrenberg.

Wehrenberg showed the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} and Fong the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Fong was drawing dead on the flop, but just for good measure the dealer smacked the {K-Hearts} on the turn to give Wehrenberg quads. The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs}. Wehrenberg moved up to 17,000 while Fong was eliminated.
