Raymond Walter completed and Dan Heimiller called; they were heads up to fourth street.
Walter bet out on fourth and Heimiller raised. Call. Walter bet out on every remaining street, including a bet in the dark on seventh. Heimiller called all the way, tanking briefly on seventh before declaring, "Well, I got two big pairs, I call." He turned over aces and jacks, which was good to beat Walter's three rather smaller pairs.
Walter was reduced to a mere 11,000. Former chip daddy Heimiller was up to 195,000 after that.
On the last hand before the break we lost Said Elsanafiri. Here's it it went down.
Sorel Mizzi was the bring-in with the and Darren Shebell completed. Said Elsanafiri, Jon Turner and Mizzi made the call.
On fourth, Shebell took the lead and bet out before Elsanafiri put in a raise. Turner and Mizzi both released but Shebell announced a re-raise. Elsanafiri made the call.
Fifth street saw Shebell lead out with Elsanafiri calling off his last chips.
Christine Pietsch: /
Pat Pezzin: (XXX) /
Alex Kravchenko: (XX) / - fold
Christine Pietsch completed and Pat Pezzin and Alex Kravchenko both called. Pezzin, with a pair of nines showing, bet out on fourth street and Kravchenko folded; Pietsch made the call though and they were heads up.
Pezzin bet out again on fifth and sixth streets and both times Pietsch made the call. They both checked on seventh and Pietsch's two pair was presumably good enough to win, as Pezzin just mucked his hand.
Jon Turner has had a good few minutes after winning back-to-back pots to get himself up to 190,000 chips.
In the first hand, Turner completed before firing bets on fourth (double) and fifth, before sixth and seventh were checked down against Darren Shebell.
Turner: () /
Shebell: (X) /
Turner showed a flush which was good as Shebell flipped aces up.
The following hand Turner and Sorel Mizzi clashed, with Turner applying the pressure all the way to the river until Mizzi gave it up.
Turner: (XXX) /
Mizzi: (XXX) /
Turner - 190,000
Mizzi - 210,000
Shebell - 230,000
Eric Friedman: (XXX) /
Raymond Walter: (X) with the ace on seventh street /
Pat Pezzin: (XX) / - fold
Down to just 11,000 at the break, Raymond Walter has made an impressive comeback - he seems to have decatupled his stack over two big hands and is now at 110,000.
Walter had already doubled up on the previous hand when the following occurred: Friedman and Walter just called the bring-in before Pezzin completed. They both called.
Thereafter Walter led the betting, and he bet out on every street. Pezzin gave it up on fifth street but Friedman called all the way before mucking to Walter's trip aces.
When we got to the table Darren Shebell had two opponents all in and he threw out the classic line, "I got a full house, I gotta call!"
Steve Albini (yes, of Big Black fame) was putting his last chips in on sixth street with Julian Herold already all in at that point. Here's how the boards were spread:
Albini would need to improve on the river but he bricked out as Herold quickly mucked his down cards, and Shebell had suddenly sent two to the rail! He's up to a tournament-leading 275,000 chips.
Trips showing on both boards! Freaky! As Sorel Mizzi jumped out of his chair to take a photo of the boards on his phone, Ahmed fired a bet and Ashby let his hand go.
