Event #22: $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship
Day 1 Started
Over the next three days, our bloggers and field reporters will be relieved of the stench that comes with every male-dominated tournament field, as the women of poker take to the felt for the 2010 WSOP Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship.
Last year's event drew 1,060 of the world's finest female poker players, creating a prize pool of over one million dollars. Lisa Hamilton tore through the field en route to claiming the biggest piece of the pie, earning $195,390 and a shiny WSOP gold bracelet.
Tournament organizers expect a similar-sized crowd this year, when the event kicks off at 12:00 noon later today.
Will this year's "we're in the money" shriek be louder than last's? Keep it locked right here at PokerNews.com to find out!

The "First Lady of Poker" has just given the green light to shuffle up and deal!
Our first celebrity sighting is Cheryl Hines, the wonderfully funny actress best known for her role as Cheryl David on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. We don't want to pick favorites, but we really like Curb.
PokerNews' own Lynn Gilmartin, Kristy Arnett, and Elaine Chaivarlis are out in the field today. Also spotted were:
Linda Johnson
Shannon Elizabeth
Tracey "XTraCey" Nguyen
Lizzie Harrison
Vanessa Rousso
Evelyn Ng

Jennifer Tilly
Christina Lindley
Lauren Kling

Lana Meier
Jane Isabel Villafuerte
Amanda Musumeci
Tiffany Michelle, JJ Liu, Melissa Castello, and Sabyl Landrum are also out in the field playing today.
Although strongly discouraged from playing, tournament organizers can't actually ban men from participating in today's event. As a result, there are a few men scattered about the Pavilion in various stages of drag.
Shaun Deeb is one such dude. He showed up in a pink slip, straw hat, and lipstick to match. Word is he's playing like a wild man. Don't worry, we'll send pics.
It was a quick tournament for Kristy Arnett.
We caught up with the action on a . Arnett bet 200 and was raised to 600 by her opponent. Arnett called, leading to the hitting the turn. The chips went into middle and Arnett was way ahead, holding to her opponent's .
Unfortunately for Arnett, the hit the river and her tournament came to an end.
This event has a high number of amateur and recreational players, so we were surprised to see that both Tiffany Michelle and Vanessa Rousso had both been seated at Table 8.
