Shulman Vs. Leah

We only caught the action on the river after a series of betting, raising and re-raising between Barry Shulman and MIke Leah. When the dust settled, Shulman's {a-}{2-} was no good against Leah's {A-}{4-} with the only three cards that matter on the board being {a-}{2-}{4-}.

Shulman slips to 3,300 while Leah climbs back to about 4,600.

Elezra Knocked Down

Eli Elezra three-bet an opening raise before the flop, and his opponent called to go heads up with him the rest of the way.

Elezra bet blind as the flop came {4-Clubs} {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}. His opponent called, and he called another bet on the {3-Spades} turn. The {5-Hearts} on fifth street drew checks from both players, and Elezra said simply, "King." There was no king on board, so his opponent's {Q-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} was good enough to drag the pot.

Elezra is left with just 1,400 here in the early going.

Chen Checks to a Win

Bill Chen called an UTG raise from the big blind, and the two players saw a {2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop.

Chen check-called the UTG bet, and the two checked through the {8-Clubs} turn card. The river was the {10-Spades} and both players checked once again. Chen flipped up the {q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, which was good against his opponent's {a-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Chen is close to his starting stack, with 7,100.

Dwan Picks Up Some Chips

On a turned board showing {8-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} {10-Spades}, we caught up to the action as Tom Dwan flicked out a bet. His lone opponent raised, and "durrrr" called to see the last card.

It was the {6-Hearts}, and it brought some action. His opponent bet out, Dwan raised, and his opponent three-bet right back at him. Dwan made the smooth call, and his opponent turned up a fairly weak {5-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Dwan's {K-Spades} {9-Spades} was good for a straight and the pot, and he's moved his stack up to 14,000.

Veldhuis Finds a Ten

Lex Veldhuis raised under the gun, and he found one call from Tom Schneider in middle position.

Heads up, the flop came down {K-Hearts} {5-Spades} {4-Spades}, and Veldhuis check-called a bet. Both players checked through the {10-Hearts} turn and {J-Clubs} river to go straight to showdown for the small pot.

Veldhuis tabled {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}, and it was the winner. Schneider mucked, moving down to 6,950, while that little chip-up puts Veldhuis at 5,700, both men still down a bit from their starting stacks.

Gordon Gets Re-Sucked on the River

It was a blind on blind battle, with Phil Gordon raising it up in the small blind before getting re-popped by the player in the big blind. Gordon made the call, and the two saw a {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop.

Gordon led out with a bet, and got a call from his opponent leading to the {2-Diamonds} hitting on the turn. Once again, Gordon bet, and got called by his opponent. The two saw the {10-Clubs} hit the turn, and both players checked.

Gordon flipped over {k-}{9-}, which was rivered by his opponents {k-}{10-}. Gordon exclamed, "Sick, so f***ing gross." He's down to 5,550.

Chino Stays Alive!

Chino Rheem was all in for 150 before the flop, and he two opponents checked down a board of {4-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}.

Chino showed up {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, and neither of his opponents could beat that. That gives him a much-needed triple up to a still-very-short 450.
