Hand For Hand

Wow, that was fast. We're down to 442 - the bubble - and the TD has promised the grand prize of a one round penalty to anyone who attempts to leave their seat during this crucial time.

No More Hand For Hand

Oh dear, some terrible luck for a player who got his last in with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} against Keven Stammen's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}.

Board: {3-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

Yuk.

But whether this unfortunate gent was the official bubbler is unclear, as in just one hand of hand-for-hand play the field managed to shrink to 439, meaning that two players busted out in the money - Marc Durand and Antonio Prieto.

This Is Serious

All the young players who blew a chunk of their bankroll on some expensive headphones and a new ipod will now find themselves playing a music-free tournament.

Now that we are in the money, headphones are banned and they will just have to talk to the other players for entertainment instead.

Jonathan "FatalError" Aguiar begrudgingly removed his headphones right in front of us, pleading with the dealer.

"What if I disconnect them and just use the noise cancellation?" he asked.

No means no Mr. Aguiar.

Scott Gets Got

Robert "E-Dolo" Scott was loud enough to let us know from across the room that he had aces.

Scott: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Christopher Webb, all in: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Board: a terrifying but ultimately harmless {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

"WE GOOD! WE GOOOOOOOD!!!" he bellowed as Webb made a sour face and looked around for the tournament director to collect his card so he could get his min-cash. When the TD arrived, however, he asked both players for their player cards - Scott was issued with a one-round penalty for excessive celebration.

"Oh, I have to be quiet?" Scott asked. "I didn't know. I know now..."

Rousso Done In by Ladies

There was a mid-position raise to 2,700 before Lisa Parsons made it 7,000 from the button. The small blind folded, but Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso in the big blind shoved for 30,000 total. Back to the mid-position player who re-shoved for 46,600. Parsons tanked for a while before folding {a-}{k-} face up, and Rousso and the re-shover were on their backs.

Rousso: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Re-Shover: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Board: {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Rousso is done and dusted in 421st place. Marcello del Grosso is now the sole flag-flyer for Team PokerStars in this tournament.

Huge Double for Aguiar

Jonathan Aguiar doesn't need music to stack heaps.

Aguiar opened to 1,200 from under the gun and the action folded to Benjamin Lefew who re-raised to 6,300. The blinds folded and Aguiar made the call.

The dealer flopped {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Aguiar checked to Lefew who continued for 8,000. Aguiar tanked momentarily before raising to 19,400.

"How much do you have behind?" Lefew asked after thinking for a minute or so.

Aguiar counted his stacks of blue T100 and purple T500 chips before answering, "About 31 (thousand)."

Lefew moved all-in and Aguiar's eyes lit up as he blurted, "Call."

Aguiar tabled {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for bottom set and Lefew opened {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for just a pair of aces. The turn ({2-Spades}) and river ({7-Hearts}) blanked and Aguiar held the winner.

After counting the stacks officially, Aguiar actually had 43,600 and after that hand he sits with about 110,000.

Not a Phan of Ace-King

Tim Phan opened to 1,800 from under the gun and was called by a woman in middle position and another player on the button.

The flop fell {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Phan led for 4,400. The woman in middle position moved all-in for 11,500, the button folded and Phan called.

Woman in MP: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Phan: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and the river was the {10-Clubs} sending the pot to Phan's opponent.

As the Crow Flies

We arrived just in time to see a three-way preflop all-in showdown.

Player 1: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Player 2: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Justin Crow: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Board: an exciting but ultimately no-one-hit-anything {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

The two gents with the queens chopped it up, and Crow was eliminated, despite shouting, "King!" and latterly, "Deuce!" at the felt. He made a face like somehow that had been a bad beat, but had cheered up somewhat by the time he joined the huge queue for the payout desk. "It was my 21st birthday on Saturday," he told us with a smile. Many happy returns from PokerNews and the WSOP! Crow will be taking home a small cash from his first ever WSOP - not a bad result by any means.

Mohsin On Down

Mohsin Charania got his last in with pocket jacks, but had smacked right into another player's pocket queens. He received absolutely no assistance from the board, and busted out in 386th place.
