Josephy Surrenders

Razz

Awad: (X) (X) / {8-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Spades} {4-Spades}
Josephy: (X) (X) / {q-Spades} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}

Cliff Josephy caught the bring-in, then watched as three other people limped in. He mentioned that he hadn't looked at his hole cards and was afraid he'd find something that would get him in trouble. On fourth street, Awad bet and folded two other players. Josephy looked at his down cards and then called.

The action was the same on fifth street, with Awad betting the better board and Josephy calling. On sixth street, Josephy paired and Awad caught good again.

"That's bulls***", said Josephy. He flashed {2-} {7-} and then mucked. Awad showed {8-} {4-}, two pair.

"Oh god," said Josephy. "I had the best hand. Good hand."

"You should have been more stubborn," said another player at the table.

Josephy has about 118,000.

Shulman Trending Downward

Omaha 8/b

Jeff Schulman was riding in the front of the pack for a while and was the first player to break into 100,000 chip territory. Lately, though, he's finding himself slipping and is down to just 25,000 after this hand with Tom Hunt.

Tom Hunt had raised preflop from late position and got called by Shulman and Robert Mizrachi. The flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and action was checked to Hunt, who bet. Shulman then raised and Mizrachi folded before Hunt called.

On the turn we got to see the {j-Spades}. Shulman bet and then called Hunt's raise.

The river was the {10-Clubs} and Shulman check-called a bet from Hunt, but mucked when Hunt showed {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Hunt is now up to 95,000 in chips, while Shulman is down to 25,000.

Fair Play Award

At Blake Cahail's table, we witnessed the most amicable resolution to a dispute we can ever remember seeing.

The game was Omaha Hi/Lo. Apparently, at showdown, Cahail and Allen Kessler both tabled their hands. The dealer mis-read the hands and thought Cahail won. He killed Kessler's hand, pushed the pot to Cahail and then killed Cahail's hand.

It was just as the second hand was being killed that Kessler protested that he actually had the winner. A floor was summoned to oversee a resolution. The table agreed that Kessler tabled the winner. Cahail wasn't sure, but since the majority of the table agreed Kessler won, Cahail re-constructed the pot and then pushed it to Kessler.

Pezzin Down Then Out

Pat Pezzin
Pat Pezzin

Razz

Pat Pezzin was recently involved with a hand against Andrew Revesz in which he folded on seventh street, leaving himself with just 2,000 chips.

Pezzin: (XXX) / 6-7-K-4
Revesz: (XXX) / 4-6-7-Q

We caught up with the action on fifth street, where Pezzin called a bet from Revesz, which he would do again on sixth street. He wasn't able to make another call on seventh street, though.

In the very next hand Pezzin was all in after starting with A-6-K, but would go on to fill up with aces full of sixes and bust.

Recent Eliminations

Ryon Nicholson and Paul Evans have both been eliminated. Nicholson was eliminated in the Omaha Hi/Lo round, all in with {a-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {4-Diamonds} against Michael Craig's {k-Clubs} {k-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Hearts}. The board came {4-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {j-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} to give Craig a straight-seven.

Evans mae his stand in the limit hold'em round. He was all in pre-flop with {a-Diamonds} {q-Hearts} and called by Regis Burlot's {j-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. Neither player connected on the {6-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {3-Hearts} flop, but then Burlot made a running two pair with the {5-Spades} and {j-Hearts}.
