Papola Overtakes Radoja

Jeffrey Papola completed his small blind, and Mark Radoja checked his option.

Flop: {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} - Papola bet 37,000. Radoja raised to 100,000, and Papola called.

Turn: {q-Spades} - Check, check.

River: {q-Clubs} - Papola bet 215,000, and Radoja snap-folded. With the latest pot, Papola took over the top spot in the chip counts with 1.55 million. Radoja dropped to second with 1.3 million.

You're Sicker than Me

Sicko Jeffrey Papola
Sicko Jeffrey Papola

Jeffrey Papola raised to 52,000, and Mark Radoja reraised to 120,000. No pansy four-betting for Papola. He just moved all in for more than 1.1 million on top. Wow. Radoja, the chip leader, leaned back in his chair, studying Papola. But Jeffrey didn't move a muscle. Radoja asked him all kinds of questions but couldn't get a flinch or a tick out of him. Finally, Radoja shook his head and folded. Papola calmly showed the {5-Diamonds}. Radoja just stared at him and said, "You're sicker than me."

Papola moved up to 1.35 million. Radoja is still the chip leader with 1.75 million.

Papola Picks Up Some

Jeffrey Papola raised to 52,000 on the button, and Mark Radoja bumped it to 120,000 in the small blind. Papola called to see the {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop. Radoja bet out 95,000, and Papola called. Then both opponents checked the {2-Spades} turn. Radoja checked again after the {k-Clubs} on the river, and Papola checked behind, turning up {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of queens. Radoja's {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} couldn't beat it, and Papola moved up to 1.05 million. Radoja is still the leader of the pack with 1.8 million.

Action a Little Slow

There haven't been many exciting pots so far this level. Maybe the players are turning into ice sculptures in the freezing back of the Amazon room, and with their blood so slowed by the arctic temperatures, aren't in the mood to gamble it up.

We did get one all in after Taylor McFarland raised to 56,000 under the gun. Men Nguyen moved all in for another 241,000, and after three minutes in the tank, McFarland folded.

Lindgren Shenghaied

Paul Sheng made his standard raise to 50,000 on the button, and Erick Lindgren called from the big blind.

Flop: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} - E-dog checked, then called when Sheng bet 60,000.

Turn: {3-Hearts} - Lindgren checked again. Sheng bet 140,000 with a third heart on the board, and Lindgren called again.

River: {3-Clubs} - Lindgren checked a third street in a row. Sheng fired 250,000, and this time Lindgren wasn't ready to make the call so fast. He sat up in his chair, sighed deeply, and checked his cards one more time. Finally, looking miserable about it, he folded, dropping to 1,020,000. Sheng scooped the pot without a showdown and moved up to 1,200,000.

Evan Panesis Eliminated in 10th Place ($43,941)

Evan Panesis - 10th Place

Darren Elias raised on the button, and Evan Panesis shoved from the big blind. Elias called, and they were on their backs.

Showdown
Panesis: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Elias: {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop gave Panesis some extra outs, but the {a-Spades} on the turn took a few away. The {j-Hearts} on the river wasn't enough to save him, and Panesis was sent home in 10th place. Elias is up to 1,150,000.

Nguyen Doubles Again

Paul Sheng opened to 50,000, and from the small blind, Men Nguyen stood up and moved all in for another 142,000. Sheng felt like he had to call even though his {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} was never going to be in great shape. Nguyen showed {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The board came {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, and Men doubled to 360,000, giving a silent fist pump. "Must be the glasses," said Young Phan who was sweating the action. Sheng is down to 710,000.
