Chiu Extends His Lead

Pot-Limit Hold'em

Jose-Luis Velador check-called 20,000 from David Chiu on the turn of an {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} board, before both players checked the {4-Clubs} river. Chiu turned over {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for two pair, queens and eights, and Velador mucked, giving Chiu the pot.

Former chip leader Velador was down to 370,000 after that. Chiu meanwhile was up to a commanding 560,000.

Tristan McDonald - 13th Place
Tristan McDonald - 13th Place

Pot-Limit Omaha

Tristan McDonald had his last 90,000 or so in the middle against Kevin MacPhee. McDonald held the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and was up against the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} of MacPhee.

The flop, turn and river ran through {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and that was the end of the line for McDonald. He was eliminated in 13th place and took home $12,671. MacPhee increased to 400,000 in chips.

Gray Pushing Hard On Turn and River

Pot-Limit Omaha

Tristan McDonald raised from the cutoff seat to 20,000 and Craig Gray called from the small blind. The two took a flop of {J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and both checked.

The {6-Clubs} fell on the turn and Gray fired 36,000. McDonald called and then the river completed the board with the {J-Spades}. Gray cocked back and fired 80,000. McDonald tanked for quite some time and then asked, "You bluffing me? I can only beat a bluff," before eventually folding and leaving himself with just about 90,000 chips.

Sterling Doubles Through Ivey

Matt Sterling
Matt Sterling

Pot-Limit Omaha

Phil Ivey went hunting for the last of Matt Sterling's chips with the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Spades} versus the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades} of Sterling. Sterling was all in for about 50,000 chips preflop.

The flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and it didn't look good for Sterling as Ivey flopped a set of jacks and a flush draw.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and then the river the {10-Hearts}, giving Sterling broadway on the river and doubling him up back over 100,000. Ivey dropped back to 300,000.

MacPhee Vs. Mitchell

Pot-Limit Hold'em

Kevin MacPhee opened for 20,000 under the gun, but James Mitchell in the cutoff made it 65,000 to go. It folded back around to MacPhee, who thought about it briefly before announcing, "I'm all in." He pushed his whole 185,000 stack forward and then lowered his head.

Mitchell stared him down for a long time, idly rolling chips back and forth across the table in front of him. After a couple minutes he laughed (eliciting zero reaction from MacPhee) and then folded.

Mitchell: seemed to have doubled up somewhere along the line, but now down to 245,000
MacPhee: up to 260,000

Chiu Set Up

Pot-Limit Omaha

We got to the table just in time to see David Chiu and Rob Hollink check down the turn and river of a {q-Hearts}{k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} board. Chiu turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a set of kings and Hollink mucked, his stack dipping to 390,000 in the process. Meanwhile Chiu seems to have nudged into the lead on a shade under 500,000.

Tieman Bests Ramdin

Pot-Limit Hold'em

Victor Ramdin raised to 20,000 from early position and got a call from Joshua Tieman in the small blind. The two of them took a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Tieman checked. Ramdin checked behind.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and Tieman checked again. Ramdin fired 27,000 and Tieman made the call.

The river completed the board with the {J-Spades} and both players checked.

Tieman rolled over the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Ramdin mucked, dropped back to 300,000 in chips while Tieman approached the 400,000-chip mark.
