Negreanu Shoots Up the Roller Coaster

Pot-Limt Omaha

A little while ago, this is what Daniel Negreanu's Twitter said, "I do NOT have 'it' today. Not enough sleep last night puts me in a gambling mood and I wanna get it in in the Omaha. Don't bet on me in this." We'd like to point out the specific part about wanting to get the money in in Omaha because just recently, Negreanu did just that.

On the flop of {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}, Negreanu got it in against Ben Lamb. Negreanu flopped a set of queens with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and was up against the {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}-X of Lamb.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and the river the {J-Clubs}, giving Negrenau the hand. He had more chips than Lamb and eliminated him on the hand.

It's been quite the roller coaster day so far, he was knocked down early, doubled back, knocked back down and now has built all the way back to just about 15,000 in chips. Let's see if he can keep it climbing now.

Divided Attention

While on the floor, or at the media desk, one thing can be easily ascertained from looking at the field. Many are distracted by Game 7 of the NBA Finals. There aren't as many televisions in the blue section of the Amazon Room as compared to other areas. Players, like Tommy Vedes, are completely turning away from their table to catch the action. Luckily for Vedes, his table is set to break shortly and maybe he will have a better view of the TV where he ends up.

Some would rather the tournament clocks be changed to the game, not caring much for the blinds are or how much time is left in the level. Either way, this should certainly have an effect of tournament. play.

Late Arrivals

Not only have a few more tables opened up, but a few rows of tables have started due to all the people coming in late. Michael Katz, Dave Baker, Tommy Vedes, John Kabbaj, Michael Binger, David Paredes, Carter Gill, Layne Flack and Ludovic Lacay are just a handful of the names that have trickled in here in as we move towards the close of the first level. Surely even more will be rolling in and we'll keep you posted.

The Champ is Here

The defending champion has arrived. Rami Boukai has just taken his seat over at Table 264 in the Blue section where they are just five handed right now. Last year, Boukai conquered the field of 453 players to take home the $244,862 first-place prize and the gold bracelet. You can read about his victory here and we'll be sure to let you know how his title defense moves along throughout the day.

Tumultuous Start For Negreanu

Pot-Limit Hold'em

We arrived at Daniel Negreanu's table and saw a board of {9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. There was roughly 8,000 in the pot and Negreanu's opponent was all in for 1,025. Negreanu wasn't thrilled with the scenario.

"Usually I have a nine in this spot," said Negreanu. He didn't appear to have it this time, folding his hand and slipping to about 2,600.

However, upon arriving back at his table, it appears that Negreanu doubled up. He is back up to about 5,400.
