Defending Champion Busto

Brandon Cantu won this event last year, but this year he will fall well short of the money. For his final hand, he was in the big blind. Gregory Samay limped in from under the gun before a middle-position player raised pot to 5,400. Action folded to Cantu, who tanked for about two minutes. He asked the dealer if an all-in shove of 7,200 would re-open the betting to the raiser if Samay just called. The dealer said it would not.

Cantu did then push all in, and Samay called, leaving himself just 3,000 behind. The original raiser called also, creating a three-way pot of 22,000 chips. Samay put his last 3,000 at risk after the flop came all big cards, {a-Hearts} {10-Spades} {q-Hearts}. Each player then opened his hand.

Cantu: {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Samay: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Player 3: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Cantu was fairly happy with the flop, having flopped straight and flush draws. Samay also had a straight draw, while the third player made top set. Cantu hit hearts on the {2-Hearts} turn and started pleading that the river come clean, but it fell {10-Clubs} to pair the board and give the third player a full house. Cantu and Samay were both eliminated.
