Mike Santoro Eliminated in 9th Place ($21,304)

Mike Santoro - 9th place
Mike Santoro - 9th place

Limit

Mike Santoro raised from the cutoff, and it folded to Michael Michnik who made it three bets from the big blind. Santoro called with his last chips, and the cards were tabled.

Michnik {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Santoro {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and Santoro was still ahead but only precariously so. The {8-Spades} on the turn then paired Michnik, and the {5-Spades} river meant we had our first elimination.

Michnik now has about 530,000.

A Lot of Raising Going On

Limit

From the cutoff, Daniel Idema raised. Mike Santoro reraised from the button and both blinds released. Idema made the call and the flop came down {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}.

Idema check-raised Santoro's bet. Santoro answered that with a raise himself and not to be outdone, Idema reraised. Santoro made the call and the turn brought the {9-Clubs}.

Idema tossed in a bet, and that was enough to get Santoro to fold.

Hannawa Takes One

Limit

Timothy Finne raised from under the gun, and it folded to Danny Hannawa who called from the big blind. The flop came {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. Hannawa checked, Finne bet, Hannawa check-raised, and Finne called. The turn was the {J-Spades}, and this time Hannawa bet and Finne called. Same story -- a bet-call -- following the river {Q-}.

Hannawa showed {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for trip jacks, and Finne mucked.

Pilgrim Cracks Solomon's Aces

Dwyte Pilgrim
Dwyte Pilgrim

Limit

With the board {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades} and 188,000 already in the middle, Jarred Solomon checked from the big blind, and Dwyte Pilgrim bet from the button.

Solomon grimaced as he considered what to do, then finally made the call, tabling {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}. Pilgrim flipped over {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} for kings full, and took the large pot.

Pilgrim chips up over 300,000, while Solomon slips to about 650,000.

Internet... Please Come Back!

The internet here at the Rio has been up and down all afternoon. We've gotten word that the situation is being worked on, and we're working to get as many posts and chip counts up despite the issue. Thanks for your patience.

A Finne Start

Limit

It folded to Daniel Idema who raised, then Timothy Finne made it three bets from the button. The blinds got out, and Idema called.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. Idema checked, Finne bet, and Idema called. The turn was the {2-Spades}. This time Idema bet, and Finne called. Both then checked the {8-Diamonds} river.

Idema showed {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Finne {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and Finne took the pot.
