Many of the players seem to be more focused on the World Cup than poker. In fact, those who have a seat in view of a television seem to be the lucky players in today's field. The United States is currently playing Ghana and it isn't uncommon for the Pavilion Room to suddenly get loud at anything remotely positive for the U.S.
It'll be interesting to see the room's reaction come the end of the game.
A player opened the pot in middle position wit a 75-chip raise and Bernard Lee called in late position.
The flop ran out

and Lee called a 175-chip bet. The turn brought a
and action to the table.
The player in middle position fired a 325-chip bet and Lee moved all in for an additional 625 chips. He was called and tabled
. His opponent showed
.
The river card was a bricked and Lee is now up to 2,500 chips.
On a flop of

, a woman in Seat 2 bet 600 and Antonio Esfandiari raised 1,000 on top. Action folded back to Seat 2 who went all in for just a few hundred more. Esfandiari called and showed
and was ahead.
The
on the turn and
on the river changed nothing and Seat 2 was sent packing. Esfandiari is already up to around 8,500.
From the cutoff seat a player raised to 125, on the button, Bryan Paris called.
The flop came out

and Paris called a 125-chip bet. The turn card was
and both players checked.
The river was a
and they both checked again. Paris mucked after his opponent tabled
. He slipped to 2,700 chips.
It appears both John Spadavecchia and Jerry Yang have been eliminated. Yang's luck in these $1,000 tournaments seems to be non-existent as he is prone to early exits.
We went to check to see how Tom "durrrr" Dwan was doing and caught the following hand.
Dwan raised to 125 in early position and was called by the player in Seat 2. Seat 4 then raised to 525 and Dwan got out of the way. Seat 2 moved all in and Seat 4 called for his tournament life.
Seat 2:

Seat 4:

Seat 4 was in great shape as the flop came

. That all changed when the
hit the turn, giving Seat 2 the lead. The
on the river sealed the deal and Seat 4 was eliminated. Meanwhile, Dwan is down to just 1,525.
When we arrived at the table the flop was reading

and there were five players in the hand. They all checked.
The turn card was a
and the small blind, Marc Convey, fired a 150-chip bet. One player in late position made the call. The river brought a
to the felt and both players checked.
Convey tabled
and his opponent showed pocket jacks. Convey slipped to 4,500 chips.
We're now on a 20-minute break.
