Team Effort

We have a fair few Team PokerStars Pros left in the field right now.

The best performance of the day so far has been logged by Jose Nacho Barbero - from an already very respectable 61,900 at the start of the day, he's improved to 165,000. Impressive.

Also still in the running are Lex Veldhuis, Rino Mathis and Jorge Arias.

Black Back in the Red

Andy Black got his 41,300 stack in preflop with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} against an opponent with {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}. The {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop gave Black top set but the other player straight, flush, and straight-flush draws. Black liked the {q-Spades} on the turn as it gave him top boat, but he wasn't completely home free yet. The {10-Hearts} would give his opponent a straight flush. The next card they saw was the {3-Clubs} but it was a boxed card, meaning it was face up in the deck. The floor was called and as usual, it was treated as a burn. Black wasn't pleased to have to sweat an extra card, but the {j-Diamonds} that came on the true river wasn't the {10-Hearts}, so he was content to call Mike Matusow over and have a laugh about it while he gathered his new stack. Black is up to 85,000.

Morris Minor for Gerasimov

Kirill - what a whale eats
Kirill - what a whale eats

We arrived just in time for the showdown, Daniel Morris all in.

Morris: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Kirill Gerasimov: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Board: {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} making Morris a straight

Morris doubled to 40,000 while tablemate Phil Hellmuth loudly claimed that he'd known they both had aces; nobody commented. Gerasimov dropped to 30,000 and looked extremely unhappy about it.

Black Yuzes His Head

Andy Black has doubled up through Alexey Yuzikov, the last of the chips going in on the flop.

Black: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Yuzikov: {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Board: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Yuzikov rivered a Broadway straight but Black rivered a full house. He doubled to 110,000 while Yuzikov dropped right down to 34,000.

Dang Doubles without Danger of Showdown

Di "Urindanger" Dang limped preflop, and Jonathan Zuchowski limped behind. From the small blind, Niall Charlton raised to 6,000. Big blind Philippe Dauteuil called, and action was back on Dang. He potted, making it a total of 25,000 to go. Zuchowski snap folded, and Charlton gave it up as well. Dauteuil tanked but eventually decided to flat, leaving Dang about 20,000 behind. The flop came out {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}, and Dang moved all in before Dauteuil had a chance to act. He seemed annoyed to miss out on his right to check first, but check he did, and Dang shipped it in again. Dauteuil folded without a pause, leaving himself not much behind. Dang said he had aces up and raked in a hefty pot. He's up to 77,000 now.
