Mortensen Outflops Ummer...Twice

Carlos Mortensen
Carlos Mortensen

Carlos Mortensen opened for 25,000 from the cutoff and Per Ummer called on the button. The flop was {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Mortensen check-called Ummer's 40,000 bet. The turn was the {7-Spades}. Mortensen checked, Ummer bet 62,000 and Mortensen called. Both players checked the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

Mortensen's {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} outflopped Ummer's pocket threes and he raked in the pot. The hand took Mortensen up to 480,000 and left Ummer with only 60,000.

On the next hand, Mortensen raised to 60,000 from the small blind and Ummer called all-in from the big.

Ummer {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Mortensen {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Ummer hit top pair when the flop came down {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Spades}, but Morntensen picked up a gutshot straight draw. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn was a good card for Ummer, but Mortensen spiked the {J-Diamonds} on the river, filling his Broadway straight and eliminating Ummer.

Mortensen is now up to 545,000.
