Yu Times Two

Ben Yu, desperately short-stacked, raised all in from the big blind after Brendan Taylor opened the button with a raise. Taylor called with {q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, two live cards against Yu's {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. But it was Yu who stayed best on a board of {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}, making a ten-high straight to drag the pot.

Little Gets His Value

Jonathan Little
Jonathan Little

Brendan Taylor raised the small blind and was called by Jonathan Little from the big blind. Taylor fired again on an all-diamond flop, with Little calling behind. Both players checked when the board paired kings, {k-Spades}. Taylor checked again on the {j-Spades} river, prompting Little to bet. Taylor called, but couldn't beat {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for aces and kings.

McGowan Doubles, Yu Crippled

Ben Yu raised and Joe McGowan reraised preflop. Yu called and the turn came down {2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. McGowan bet and Yu called. McGowan then bet his last 50,000 in the dark and the {A-Diamonds} came on the turn.

Yu called and showed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, he was drawing dead against the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} of McGowan. Yu was left with just 90,000 while McGowan doubled to around 500,000.

Long Tank but No Call from McGowan

Brendan Taylor opened from under the gun (also the cutoff, now that we're four-handed) and was called by big blind Joseph McGowan. On a flop of {6-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Hearts}, McGowan check-raised Taylor's continuation bet. Taylor called to the {j-Clubs} turn, where he got his own raise into the pot after McGowan led out. McGowan called to see the {10-Clubs} hit the river. McGowan checked it, then tanked for about a full minute before folding to Taylor's river bet.

Yu Takes a Hit

Brendan Taylor raised from the button and Ben Yu called from the big blind. Yu checked the {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades} flop and Taylor bet. Yu raised and Taylor made the call as the turn came the {10-Clubs}.

Yu led out for a bet and Taylor wasted little time in raising. Yu thought it over but ended up mucking, taking his stack down to 600,000.

McGowan's Quads Double His Stack

Joe McGowan opened with a raise from under the gun. He was called only by big blind Ben Yu. The two players got in four bets on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, enough to put McGowan all in. He was in the lead with a set of fours, {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}, against Yu's top pair, {k-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Once again there was no sweat as the turn came -- BANG! -- the {4-Diamonds} for quads. Yu was drawing dead.
