Sands Vladimi-zed

David Sands sent packing
David Sands sent packing

David Sands opened the button to 250 only to have Vladimir Geshkenbein move all in from the small blind.

After some deliberation, Sands made the call for his tournament life.

Sands: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Geshkenbein: {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} to see a rivered ten sending Sands to the rail as Geshkenbein soars over the 6,000-chip mark.

Men Down, Ramirez Rolling

We just saw a couple of hands involving Senovio Ramirez, including one in which Ramirez eliminated Men Nguyen.

In the first, Ramirez opened for 250 and got a call from Peter Feldman in the big blind. Both checked the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop. The turn brought the {3-Spades}. Feldman checked, Ramirez bet 350, and Feldman called. The river was the {7-Diamonds}. Feldman again checked, Ramirez bet 900 this time, and Feldman called.

Ramirez showed {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the rivered straight, and Feldman mucked.

Soon after, Ramirez was raising again before the flop from the button, and Men Nguyen called from the big blind. The flop came {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Nguyen checked, Ramirez bet 400, and Nguyen called. The turn was the {4-Spades}. This time Nguyen bet 500, and Ramirez responded by raising all in. Nguyen called with his remaining chips.

Ramirez showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and had Nguyen's {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} outkicked. The river was the {5-Spades}, and Nguyen is out.

Ramirez now has 8,500.

Table Change!

"Put me on his table!" demanded a player while gesturing in the direction of Phil Ivey as their table was breaking.

Unfortunately his wish wouldn't be granted as both headed in opposite directions.

Once Ivey was at his new table, the other nine players all quietened up most likely due to the Ivey-aura.

A couple of limps to Ivey, and he limped behind also as the blinds came along for a ride.

The {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop was checked to see the {6-Diamonds} land on the turn and a 300-chip bet from Ivey was enough to collect the pot.

New PokerNews Videos Coming Soon

A message to fans of PokerNews' fantastic videos...

Some technical difficulties have prevented the most recently produced videos from being uploaded (that is, those completed over the last 24 hours). Work is being done to remedy the situation, and soon those new vids should be available.

Meanwhile, all previously uploaded videos remain ready for viewing at the click of a mouse. So if somehow you haven't been watching Gloria Balding, Kristy Arnett, and Lynn Gilmartin reporting on the action and interviewing players, go see what you've been missing on the video page.

Even Ivey Has to Earn Them

Phil Ivey recently arrived, and was just about to take his seat at Table 3 as a hand was being dealt.

"Better win a pot now before this guy sits down," cracked one of the players. "Should we just give our chips to you now?" asked another with a grin.

"Wish it was that easy," said Ivey.

Men at Work

Men Nguyen
Men Nguyen

A short-stacked player was just now all in for his last 675 with {A-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and was up against Men Nguyen's {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

The board came {5-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and another player has left us early. Nguyen has 4,200.

The Iceman Cometh

Registration has now closed for Event #54. At the moment the big board is showing more than 3,800 total entrants for this event. We should be getting the official total soon, plus prize pool information.

A number of players are just now taking their seats, and we'll be keeping an eye on who arrives. Among the late registrants... Teddy "Iceman" Monroe.

Barry Shulman

Barry Shulman has been eliminated here near the end of Level 2. Word is his final hand saw Shulman all in with {6-}{6-} against an opponent's {A-}{K-}, an ace flopped, and Shulman could not catch up.
