In a blind-vs.-blind battle, the small blind bet 1,200 and Chris Dombrowski called from the big blind. Both checked the turn. The river brought the and check from Dombrowski's opponent. He bet 2,600, and got a call.
Dombrowski showed for two pair, and his opponent mucked. Dombrowski has 32,000 now.
We just reported on a hand involving Isabel Carvalho. And another with Tony Dunst. And another with Kara Scott and pocket kings. Here's a hand in which all of those elements of our unfolding Day 2 story will be reprised.
The hand began with Jorge Carvalho -- Isabel's husband, in fact -- raising from middle position, then Kara Scott reraised for 2,700 more behind him. The other players -- including Tony Dunst -- folded, and the action was back on Carvalho.
Carvalho and Scott discussed the situation for a couple of minutes. Finally Carvalho said he was reraising all in. More discussion ensued, and Scott finally released her hand.
A little more talk followed, and before scooping the chips Carvalho relented and showed his hand -- . After seeing his hand, Scott was clearly pleased at having found her fold. Carvalho has 52,000 now, while Scott has 41,000.
So where does Tony Dunst come back into our story? His post-hand comment at Carvalho showing his cards: "I wish I was a hot girl!"
Just before the end of that last level, Liv Boeree was eliminated. She joins the 160 or so players who have already been knocked out in the early going.
As Level 11 begins, 422 players remain. The top 396 spots pay, so not too much longer until that cash bubble bursts.
"All dealers, please complete the hand you're on and stand up."
We're now down to 399 players -- just three more eliminations until the money -- and with the next hand will start hand-for-hand play. Meanwhile, the dealers are popping up out of their seats one by one, and a lot of players are leaning from their seats to get a look at that ever-reducing number on the big board.
No need for hand-for-hand... enough were eliminated just now to get down to 396 left. We're in the money!
Lots of happy faces among those remaining here as everyone knocked out from this point forward gets to go to the cashier's cage rather than straight to the car.
