Get Ready for Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Event #54, the last of the open-field, $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em events. After two Day Ones, we have 586 players returning today with hopes of winning a WSOP gold bracelet and the $570,960 first prize due the winner.

But first things first. Or burst things first, as in the money bubble.

The top 396 finishers will get paid in this event, meaning we are a little under 200 eliminations away from hitting the cash. If today goes like previous $1K events, we'll likely see a lot of eliminations early then a significant slowdown when we edge close to that money bubble.

While the short stacks will all be trying to double up right away in the hope of lasting to that moment, those at the top of the leaderboard will have other concerns in mind today. Tommaso Briotti, Eelke Arjaans, and Andrew Talbot all return with more than 70,000 today.

But again, first things first. It's still early, and the tourney will not be won today.

Action begins at 2:30 p.m. local time -- see you back here then!
