Backdoor Flush Helps Vonk Double Through Peters

Marcel Vonk
Marcel Vonk

Paul Kerr opened for 110,000 from the cutoff, Marcel Vonk called from the button, and David Peters came along as well from the big blind.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{A-Clubs}. It checked to Vonk who bet 200,000, then Peters check-raised to 570,000 total. Kerr got out, and Vonk called.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds}. Peters led with a bet of 660,000 this time, and Vonk thought for a while before calling. Vonk left himself about 1.5 million after making that call.

The river was the {9-Diamonds}. Peters sat quietly for a minute, then told the dealer he was all in. Vonk rechecked his cards just to make sure, then called, tabling {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the backdoor nut flush. Peters, a bit exasperated, turned his hand over as well -- {A-Spades}{5-Spades}. He'd flopped two pair, and had been outdrawn.

Big chip swing there. Vonk is the leader now with 5.65 million, and Peters falls to second with 3.15 million.
