Three-Way Shovey Stuff

In heavy preflop action, Ali Aljenabi, Michael Binger, and Seamus Cahill got it all in three ways, Binger having both opponents covered. Cahill was the shortest of the stacks, and the cards were turned up before the flop:

Aljenabi: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}
Binger: {10-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Cahill: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {5-Spades} {9-Diamonds}

The board ran out {3-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {4-Spades} {5-Diamonds}, and that gives Cahill the triple up. He's at 280,000 now, and Aljenabi wins the side pot to put him at 155,000. Binger is the big loser in this pot, sliding down to 260,000.

Durrrrlicious

We just had a frantic few moments on the table of Tom "durrrr" Dwan as he eliminated Nathan Lindsay and raked in a massive pot to once again sit on top of the chip count leaderboard and have the poker fraternity a little nervous.

The action went down on a flop of {4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} with Dwan checking to Lindsay who moved all of his chips into the middle. Dwan made the call.

Dwan: {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Lindsay: {Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Dwan tabled top two and nut flush draw to have Lindsay in some trouble with his top pair, straight draw and inferior flush draw.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and river the {6-Hearts} to leave Dwan's top two in front to send Lindsay to the rail. Dwan is now up to 560,000.

Running Crazy Cards

James Akenhead
James Akenhead

James Akenhead got his 58,400 chips all into the pot on a flop of {5-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}, and Gary Pollak called to put him at risk. And in trouble:

Akenhead: {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}
Pollak: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}

Akenhead thought he had a flush draw, but once Pollak tabled his hand, he saw the bad news that he was only live to his gutshot or running crazy cards.

Running crazy cards it is! The turn and river came {4-Hearts} and {4-Clubs} respectively, giving the pot and the double up to Akenhead in the most unlikely of ways. He's back to 170,000, and it's Pollak riding the short stack of less than 60,000.

Hellmuth Sets Up Mahrenholz

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Karl Mahrenholz moved all in for his last 32,000 on a flop of {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} but Phil Hellmuth snap-called.

Mahrenholz: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}
Hellmuth: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Mahrenholz tabled aces but Hellmuth flipped a set of eights. The turn was the {6-Spades} and river the {9-Hearts} and Mahrenholz departs as Hellmuth is now sitting with around 285,000 chips.

Pimentel Straightens Thorson

With the board reading {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, Leandro Pimentel moved all in for his last 51,500 and William Thorson went into the tank. After a few minutes of thought he splashed the pot with calling chips but Pimentel triumphantly slammed {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} down on the felt for the nut straight.

Thorson shrugged and tossed his cards into the muck. Thorson is down to 120,000 as Pimentel doubles up to 220,000.

Pierson Encounters a Grumpy Devilfish

We picked up a heads-up pot on a turned board showing {A-Hearts} {6-Spades} {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} as David Ulliott was checking. Stephen Pierson bet 10,000, and "Devilfish" quickly called.

That brought them to the {8-Diamonds} river, and Devilfish checked again.

"Cocktails! Red Bull!" The drink server was walking past the table just then, and Devilfish flagged him down.

"Hang on a sec, I want to see what he does." Devilfish made the cocktail server wait for a few seconds while Pierson fired one final bet of 17,500 at the pot. "I want a black coffee with two sugars, milk on the side." With hardly a pause in his dialogue, he turned to Pierson and continued chatting. "What the f*** do you have? You're probably only betting with an eight there. If you have a pair like jacks you probably check -- Don't forget the sugar!" he yelled back at the cocktail server who was already two tables away. Devilfish sat shuffling chips and mumbling to himself for about a minute while he sized up his opponent. "I got a bad feeling you got me beat with jacks or queens. F*** it."

With that last expletive-laden sigh, he flung the calling chips into the pot. "Yeah, I got you," Pierson said, turning up {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {4-Spades} for the winning eights full of kings. He's up to 202,000 now, dropping a grumpy Devilfish down to 140,000.

"You got me again," he said under his breath. "You f***ing got me there and it's just..." Devilfish was trailing off. "I'm going to get you back."

"I'm sure you will," was Pierson's deadpan reply.

Here Comes Durrrr!

With 100,000 already in the pot as we approached the table on the river on a board of {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Tom Dwan fired out a bet of 87,000 from early position. His opponent was Alessio Isaia who made the call.

Dwan opened {K-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for the nut flush to take it down. Dwan now assumes the tournament chip lead with 420,000 as Isaia slips back to 300,000.

No Pettey Cash

Travis Pettey was all in for 28,000 before the flop with {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {7-Clubs}, and big stack Dmitry Stelmak looked him up with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} {4-Spades}.

Pettey made two pair on the river, but the board of {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} gave Stelmak the flush and the knockout. He's eliminated Pettey from the field, moving his way up to 380,000 in the process.
