Chips von Kaemmerlen

Peter Kaemmerlen opened to 20,000 preflop and Michael Abdoulah defended his big blind.

The flop fell {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Abdoulah check-called 26,000 from Kaemmerlen. Both players checked the {5-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Clubs} on the river as well.

Abdoulah opened {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for just ace-high and mucked when Kaemmerlen showed {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens.

Kaemmerlen started the day as one of our chip leaders, and is already up to 600,000 chips.

Socrates Drinks the Tournament Hemlock

Dan Shak opened to 22,000 and Alfonso Amendola called on the button. Socrates Philippou in the big blind made it all in for 115,000 more and Shak folded - according to our field reporter, eating something that involved chicken and looked delicious. Either way Amendola made the call and they turned the cards over.

Amendola: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Philippou: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

"I'm in trouble," said Philippou, reasonably.

Board: {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Hearts}

As it turned out both players made a flush but Amendola's was higher. Philippou was out, and the Amendola stack got bigger.

Love Shak

Dan Shak opened to 22,000 from under the gun and Viktor Wessman flatted in middle position.

The dealer fanned {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Shak continued for 38,000. Wessman folded, and Shak was shipped the pot chipping up to 228,000.

Celling Himself Short

Viliamu Amitoelau opened for 20,000 in mid position and Benjamin Cole called in the big blind. Stephen Cellucci shoved form the small blind and Amitoelu folded, but Cole, after a period in the tank, made the call.

Cellucci: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Cole: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}

Board: {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Cole had Celucci covered by just a single 1,000 chip, so he essentially doubled up as Cellucci hit the rail.

So Long, Sobral

Viktor Wessman raised to 18,000 from under the gun and the action folded to Henrique Sobral who moved all in for 55,000 with the button. The blinds released and Wessman called.

Wessman: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Sobral: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The board ran {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Wessman's fours held eliminating Sobral from the tournament.

Don't Call It a Final

Good afternoon and welcome back to the near-empty Amazon Room - near-empty but for 73 players unbagging and stacking their chips.

That's right, this was meant to be down to a final table already but instead here we are at Day 3 with 73 players remaining. We're well inside the money now which is a good start, but we are hazarding a guess that we won't be playing down to a winner today. No official announcement has been made, but we reckon they'll play 10 levels or to a final table, whichever comes first, and then come back tomorrow to finish it off - if there's room for them once the Main Event kicks off.

Anyway, we still have a tournament going on here, is the upshot of all that. James Mackey is our giganto-stack going into the day - he currently has around a two-to-one chip lead over the next guy. But this is no limit, and anything can happen...
