Ury Exits

Jack Ury
Jack Ury

Beginning the day with only 8,200 in chips, Jack Ury has unfortunately been eliminated from the tournament.

There is no bad beat or big bust out hand, but Ury didn't actually show up today and has just been blinded out of the tournament.

British Invasion

With JP Kelly moving over to the orange section, there are now three British players on Table 337, all of whom will know each other's every move having clashed many a time on the UK circuit. Currently, no stacks have changed, though, with the Hendon Mob's Boatman still the biggest of the three.

Boatman - 175,000
Carter - 75,000
Kelly - 49,000

Horecki Trips Opponent

A player in middle position opened to 2,400 and Marcin Horecki defended his big blind. Both players checked the {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and after the {j-Diamonds} turned Horecki led for 2,400. His opponent called.

The {9-Diamonds} rivered and Horecki led again - this time for 4,500. His opponent called and mucked once Horecki showed him {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for trip nines. Horecki was shipped the pot, chipping him up to 94,000.

Must Have Been a Good Night

The day off between the second Day 2 and our current Day 3 is very popular with various organizations for throwing lavish parties, so be honest, there are a good few folks in here, players, media and staff alike, whose ears are maybe still ringing and whose stomachs perhaps couldn't face breakfast this morning.

Take, for example, the dealer at Table 338. A particularly loud cry of, "All in and call!" brought us running, but when we arrived at the table it was to discover the players all looking a bit confused, as the player whose turn it was had not yet made the call.

"Then why did I hear call?" ventured the dealer. "I'm hearing things."

You are not alone, Mr. Dealer. We waited for a while to see if anything interesting happened, but the player in question eventually folded.

Varkonyi Takes Lachance and Loses

With the board showing {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, Ludovic Lachance got all of his chips in the middle versus Robert Varkonyi, creating a huge 260,000-chip pot.

Lachance held {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the ace-high flush, while Varkonyi tabled {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Varkonyi had flopped a straight, and after the turn had a straight flush draw as well.

But the river blanked, and Varkyoni slips to 170,000. Meanwhile, Lachance chips up past the quarter-million mark.

Baumstein Surges With Knockout

We arrived at Scott Baumstein's table to see him involved in a pot against the player in the small blind with a board reading {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. The small blind bet 4,600 and Baumstein raised to 12,000. When the small blind went all in for about 20,000 more, Baumstein called.

Baumstein: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The all-in player picked up some outs when the {a-Clubs} fell on the turn, but missed them with the {k-Clubs} on the river. Baumsetein is up to about 300,000 after the elimination.

Langmann Slips

With around 8,000 in the pot and the board reading {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}, Florian Langmann was faced with a bet of 4,000.

Sitting in the big blind, Langmann check-raised to 9,500 and his opponent made the call.

The turn landed the {6-Clubs} and Langmann tossed in 20,000 in 5,000-denomination chips. His opponent committed his final 21,200 and Langmann made the call.

"I have a gutshot" announced Langmann tabling his {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

"Oh, I have nothing" he added once seeing his opponent's {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

Not actually having nothing (a jack would give him the winning hand), the river landed the {A-Clubs} to see Langmann slip to around 114,000 in chips.

Seidel Has Poor Start

We didn't see how it happened, but Erik Seidel's stack has lost about half its chips since the day began. We arrived at his table to see him raise all in for about 12,000. He got no callers and gave his stack a modest boost to about 15,000.
