Phillips Cracks Ward

"All in and a call, Table 263!"

We hustled over to see the action. Someone had raised in late position, and Carter Phillips had called. From the button, Joseph Ward moved all in for about 10,000 total. That was good enough to fold the initial raiser, but Phillips made the call to put his man at risk.

Showdown
Phillips: {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}
Ward: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}

The flop was a disaster for Ward, coming {5-Spades} {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and sending him shooting out of his chair. He clapped his hands together with a big, "No!" and table mate Greg Mueller mumbled, "It's a sick game..."

The turn {7-Clubs} and river {7-Hearts} did nothing to improve Ward's unenviable plight, and he has been eliminated after a very short Day 2. Phillips barely looked up from the massage he's getting; he's up to about 140,000 and has plenty of chips to enjoy that relaxing rubdown for a while longer.
