Phillips Wins One, Then Eliminates Mueller On the Next One

A player raised to 2,000 from the cutoff seat and Carter Phillips made the call from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {J-Hearts} fall on the turn. Phillips led for 2,500 and won the pot.

On the next hand, the player under the gun limped and Greg Mueller raised to 3,200 from late position. Phillips flatted from the small blind and the limper called as well. The flop came down {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Phillips checked. The under-the-gun player checked and then Mueller went all in for what Phillips said was much more than a pot-sized bet. Phillips reshoved and the third player in the hand folded.

Phillips flopped top set with {J-}{J-} and Mueller held {A-}{J-} with no club. The turn and river couldn't produce the miracle for Mueller and he was sent to the rail. Phillips improved to 186,500 in chips.
