Seidel Sidelined

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

With just nine big blinds, Erik Seidel opted to move all in from middle position for a total of 18,700. Unfortunately for the eight-time bracelet winner, Jennifer Harman was sitting pretty with the American Airlines in the big blind, {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, and called quicker than a jet-propelled whippet. Seidel meekly flipped {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} onto the felt.

The {K-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{K-Spades} flop was rather clinical, but Seidel had miracle outs to a royal flush draw. So, when the turn came the {J-Clubs}, the crowd naturally gasped in unison and sharpened their fangs in preparation for blood. "I'm rooting for the {10-Clubs}," confessed Duke. She wasn't alone.

But, alas, the river came a close-but-no-cigar {J-Spades}, and the potential for a YouTube clip for the ages was left in tatters. Still, Seidel gave us a moment of excitement in what has been an admittedly uneventful start, before ultimately finishing in a disappointing tenth place.
