Martin Doubles Up

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

It seems that Michael Barela has been one of the more active players left in this tournament and he got involved in another big pot recently. He raised from under the gun to 18,000. Action folded around to Daniel Quach in the hijack who called. Stefan Martin then shoved all in from the cutoff for 94,500. When action folded back to Barela he made the call and Quach got out of the way.

Barela: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Martin: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} making Martin's eights the best hand and boosting his stack to 219,000. After the hand Barela was down to 149,000.

Michael Barela Eliminated in 12th Place ($4,865)

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Once near the chip lead, Michael Barela has steadily bled chips until finally stacking off with ace high.

Barela raised to 24,000 from the button found a customer in Stefan Martin, who called from the big blind.

The flop showed {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Martin quickly checked. Just as quickly, Barela announced his was all in for his last 80,000. Martin snap-called and showed {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} for top pair. Barela tabled {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for ace high and needed help to avoid elimination. The {10-Spades} turn and {5-Clubs} river were no help to Barella, who exited in 12th place and pocketed $4,865 for his efforts.

Martin, meanwhile, is standing strong at 320,000.

Martin Gaining Ground

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Stefan Martin seems to be finding his groove after his recent double up. Martin raised pre-flop and was called by Daniel Quach. Both players checked on the flop of {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} and again after the {q-Clubs} fell on the turn. When the river brought the {10-Hearts}, Quach checked and Martin bet 35,000 which Quach quickly called. Martin flipped over the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Quach mucked his hand.

After the hand Martin's stack was up to around 360,000.

Robert Gullickson Eliminated in 11th Place ($4,865)

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded around to Robert Gullickson in the small blind who min-raised to 16,000. Chip leader Jason Baker made the call from the big blind and they saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Gullickson opened the betting by announcing that he was all in for 136,000 and Baker made the call flipping over {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for top set. Gullickson meekly flipped over {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

When the {6-Diamonds} turned, Gullickson picked up outs in the form of any remaining 7, but his hopes were dashed when the {A-Clubs} fell on the river. This hand put Baker around 700,000.

The remaining ten players have combined to one table and when the next player is eliminated, the WSOP's first official final table will be set.
