Blood Sucked Out of Vamplew

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

From the under the gun, Eddie Blumenthal raised to 65,000. David Vamplew called from the button and Jeff Papola called from the big blind. The three players saw the flop come down {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and action was on Papola first. He checked and Blumenthal bet 110,000. Vamplew raised to 295,000 and Papola folded. Blumenthal thought for a few seconds and then announced that he was all in. Vamplew snapped.

Vamplew tabled the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} for top set of nines. Blumenthal rolled over the {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a pair of deuces and a club flush draw.

The turn brought the {J-Spades} to keep Vamplew in the lead, but the {K-Clubs} on the river delivered a flush for Blumenthal. Blumenthal was all in for 1.595 million in chips on the flop and Vamplew sent them all his way. He was knocked all the way back to 245,000 in chips.

Klein Shoving Often

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Geffrey Klein
Geffrey Klein

Riding the short stack in a tournament isn't too fun, especially when play is down to four handed and the blinds are moving around the table much more frequently. Geffrey Klein is in the boat and he's been shoving his stack in a lot lately. Here's a sample of some of the recent hands.

From the button, Klein moved all in for 560,000. Everyone folded and he won the pot.

Shortly after that, Jeff Papola raised to 60,000 from under the gun and Klein called from the big blind to see the flop come down {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Klein open-shoved on the flop and Papola folded.

On the next hand, David Vamplew raised from the button to 65,000 and Klein moved all in from the small blind to take down the pot preflop. A couple hands later, Vamplew raised from the small blind and Klein shoved from the big blind to win the pot.

Is the Magic of Vamplew Gone?

David Vamplew - disappearing?
David Vamplew - disappearing?

David Vamplew has been unable to work his magic on either Jeffrey Papola or Eddie Blumenthal and as a result, he has slipped back to almost two million.

Earlier, the action folded to Jeffrey Papola who raised to 60,000 from the button before Vamplew called from the big blind to go heads-up to the flop of {K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Vamplew check-called Papola's bet of 80,000, but then check-folded after Papola led out for 180,000 on the turn of the {7-Hearts}.

A short time later, Blumenthal raised from under the gun to 65,000 and the action folded to Vamplew who called from the button. Blumenthal then opened for 90,000 on the flop of {J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Vamplew called before both players checked the turn of the {A-Diamonds} and the river {6-Hearts}.

Blumenthal showed {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for the set and Vamplew mucked his hand.

Bryan Colin Eliminated in 5th Place ($95,333)

Bryan Colin - 5th Place
Bryan Colin - 5th Place

In only the second hand of the post-dinner session, Bryan Colin has been sent to the rail in fifth place at the hands of Jeffrey Papola, who now holds almost half the chips in play!

Geffrey Klein folded from under the gun before Colin raised to 60,000 from the cutoff; Papola then came in with a raise from the button worth 150,000 and both the blinds got out of the way. Colin then four-bet it, making it another 280,000 to go, Papola snap-shoved and Colin insta-called.

Colin: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Papola: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The flop of {3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} caused the rail to murmur, but Colin and his supporters reeled when the {K-Spades} appeared on the turn to give Papola the uber-nut flush! The {2-Spades} on the river was merely salt in the wound and Colin departed the Amazon Room to collect $95,333 - nothing to be sneezed at.

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Eddie Blumenthal
Eddie Blumenthal

On the first hand back from dinner, fireworks hit the sky. Action folded to Jeff Papola in the small blind and he made it 75,000 to go. Eddie Blumenthal reraised all in for 775,000. Papola got the count from the dealer and then made the call with the {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Blumenthal held the {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and Blumenthal made trip aces to double up.
