Pimlott Grabs a Nice Pot

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

Bryan Pimlott has already made two deep runs this year in both the $1,500 Limit Hold'em event and the $1,500 Triple Chance, finishing 13th, and 22nd, respectively. He is looking to make yet another deep run again today.

Pimlott made a raise from early position and was called by both of the blinds. On a {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{K-Clubs} board, the action checked around to Pimlott and he fired out a bet of 350. The player in the small blind made it 975 to go and Pimlott called.

The turn fell a {7-Clubs} and the small blind fired out a bet of 1,825. Pimlott removed his sunglasses and stared his opponent down before making the call. When the {7-Hearts} paired the board on the river, the small blind checked and Pimlott moved his entire stack in the middle. The player in the small blind folded and Pimlott grabbed a nice sized pot, bringing his stack up to 13,800.

Durrrr's Stack Straightened Out

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

On a board reading {Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}, Tom "Durrrr" Dwan check-called a 650 bet from his lone opponent.

The turn brought a {8-Clubs} and Dwan again checked, prompting a 1,500 bet from his opponent. Durrrr immediately check-raised to about 8,000 and his opponent shoved his stack in for that plus a few extra hundred. Dwan made the call and saw that he was drawing thin.

Dwan: {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {10-Spades}{J-Spades}

The {J-Diamonds} bricked for Dwan, whose hefty stack was reduced to 12,500.

Smith Sticking Around....For Now

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

A critically short-stacked Gavin Smith re-raised a button raise for his last 775 and the button called.

Smith: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, which was good for a double up for Smith.

Smith still has a lot of work to do with his paltry 1,500 stack if he wants to make a run at this thing.

I'm the Defending Champ and I Make Quads

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

We caught up with the action on the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{8-Spades} board. Three players were involved, including last year's champion in this event James Dempsey. Dempsey was first and checked. The next player also checked before action fell on Kyle Bowker. He fired a bet of 400 and only Dempsey called.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and both Dempsey and Bowker checked to see the {J-Clubs} fall on the river. Dempsey fired 1,100 with 1,150 behind. Bowker tanked for a minute or two and then made the call.

Dempsey tabled the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for quad kings. "I had the other king," announced Bowker as a joke before mucking his hand. Dempsey scooped the pot and moved to 4,700 in chips. Bowker slipped to 1,400.

On the first break, Dempsey chatted with our lovely resident Australian Lynn Gilmartin. Here's what they had to chat about.

Hellmuth Loses One

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

On the {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, one player checked to Phil Hellmuth. He fired 575 and his opponent called. The turn was the {Q-Spades} and both players checked. They also checked when the {2-Spades} rolled out on the river. Hellmuth showed the {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, but was second best to his opponent's {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to drop back to 6,000 in chips.

Sebok Picks Some Flowers

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

Randall Flowers raised to 375 and got three callers, including Joe Sebok on the button. The flop came down {K-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and everyone checked to see the {4-Clubs} added on the turn. Flowers fired 1,050 and only Sebok made the call.

The river was the {7-Clubs} and Flowers checked. Sebok fired 2,700 and Flowers mucked, briefly flashing the {K-Diamonds} from his hand. Sebok won the pot and moved to 15,400 in chips.
