Tamayo Chops It Up With Steury

Level 27

Stud-8:

Jonathan Tamayo: (X)(X) - {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Aaron Steury: (X)(X) - {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

After calling bets by Steury on all streets, Tamayo found himself all-in on sixth street and tabled his down cards: {6-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a 2-3-4-6-7 low. Steury flipped up his {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} in the hole for two-pair, jacks and nines. Seventh street delivered a {J-Diamonds} for Steury and he filled up, while Tamayo didn't need his {10-Clubs} to improve.

The pot was chopped in our first hand after the color-up break.

Michael Chows Down On Steury

Level 27

Hold'em:

Michael Chow made it 80,000 to go from the button and Aaron Steury three-bet to 120,000. Chow made the call and the flop fell {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Steury led out for 40,000 and Chow came along, bringing the {Q-Hearts} on the turn. Steury again led out, this time for 80,000 and Chow popped it to 160,000, forcing Steury to muck his hand. The win pushed Chow closer to the million chip mark and he now sits with 950,000.

Stuery Strangling The Competiton

Aaron Steury Pulling Away At Final Table
Aaron Steury Pulling Away At Final Table

Hold'em:

Adam Friedman raised to 80,000 from the small blind and Aaron Steury made the call from the big blind.

Flop: {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Friedman led out for 40,000 and was raised to 80,000 by Steury. After Friedman made the call we saw a turn card of {9-Diamonds}. Friedman check-called a bet of 80,000 and the river fell {A-Diamonds}. Another check-call by Friedman prompted Steury to table his {6-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a flopped nut straight and Friedman immediately mucked his hand.

Steury followed this win with another one against Michael Chow in Omaha-8 and he has now amassed over 2,300,000 chips.

Jonathan Tamayo Eliminated In 4th Place ($84,516)

Jonathan Tamayo Eliminated In 4th Place ($84,516)
Jonathan Tamayo Eliminated In 4th Place ($84,516)

Omaha-8:

Aaron Steury looked to continue bullying his fellow players and raised to 80,000 from the small blind. Jonathan Tamayo made the call and the flop came {Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Tamayo's last 70,000 chips went into the middle and we were off to a showdown.

Tamayo: {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Steury: {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Tamayo had flopped top pair but was trailing Steury's two-pair, queens and fives. The chip leader also held an open ended straight draw and Tamayo would need help on the turn or river. The {6-Clubs} on the turn only improved Steury's hand, giving him queens and sixes and Tamayo was down to his last chance, needing a nine, ten or ace to fall on the river.

River: {J-Diamonds}

With that, Jonathan Tamayo was eliminated in 4th place and he will take home $84,516 for his deep run.

Chow Chips Up With Nine-Low

Level 27

Razz:

Aaron Steury: (X)(X) - {6-}{A-}{Q-}{J-} - (X)
Michael Chow: (X)(X) - {6-}{8-}{9-}{9-} - (X)

We missed the betting on third street but Chow fired 80,000 at Steury on fourth street and he made the call. Fifth street saw both players check and on sixth street Chow bet another 80,000, which Steury called.

Both players checked on seventh street and Chow revealed his hole cards: {5-}{7-}{7-} for a 5-6-7-8-9 low. This was good enough to force a muck by Steury and Chow chipped up to over 1,000,000 after the win.

Friedman Fires Final Barrel To Chase Chow

Level 27

Stud:

Michael Chow: (X)(X) - {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Adam Friedman: (X)(X) - {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{A-Spades}

We missed the third street action but on fourth street Friedman bet 80,000 and Chow called. The action repeated itself on fifth and sixth streets, and after the dealer flipped each player their last down card on seventh street, Friedman fired a final barrel.

This was enough to move Chow off his hand and Freidman climbed to 930,000 with the win. Chow slipped to 550,000 after the loss.

Steury Scores The Scoop

Level 27

Stud-8:

Aaron Steury: (X)(X) - {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Adam Friedman: (X)(X) - {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

Friedman bet out on every street and Steury came along each time. On seventh street, Friedman bet another 80,000 and Steury looked him up. Friedman tabled the {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} for a pair of tens and an A-2-4-6-7 low, which was good enough to scoop the 800,000+ chip pot.
