Buchanan Busted

Shawn Buchanan
Shawn Buchanan

Shawn Buchanan and Massimiliano Martinez in the cutoff both saw a flop of {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. The former led out with a bet, which was called by Martinzez. When the dealer burned and turned the {Q-Diamonds}, Buchanan bet, his opponent raised, and Buchanan called all in for just a little more.

Buchanan: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}
Martinez: {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Buchanan was ahead but needed to dodge a lot of cards. Unfortunately for him, the {6-Diamonds} river gave Martinez a flush and he was the first post-dinner break casualty.

Shorr Fights Back

Sam Grizzle raised from early position, Shannon Shorr put in three bets on the button, and Grizzle called. The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and Grizzle check-called a bet. The turn was the {j-Spades}, Grizzle check-called another bet, and the river brought the {3-Diamonds}.

Grizzle checked, Shorr fired one last time, and this time Grizzle folded.

Shorr Busts Lindemann

On a board of {5-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, Shannon Shorr bet from the small blind only to have Holger Lindemann raise from the big. Shorr proceeded to three-bet, Lindemann called, and the {7-Diamonds} spiked on the river. Shorr bet, Lindemann called all in, and Shorr showed {Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for queens and jacks. It was good as Lindemann mucked and made his exit from the tournament.

Shorr Wins A Lot

Jesse Martin had just been moved from another table to join Shannon Shorr and four others at Table 283 and he wasted no time getting acquainted as he called a raise from Shorr in the small blind in his first hand.

A flop of {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} was flipped over and Shorr fired out a bet after Martin checked it to him and Martin called. The {3-Clubs} brought the same action as Martin check-called another bet from Shorr.

A {7-Diamonds} river allowed for Martin to bet out first, he was summarily called by Shorr who held {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a pair of nines. All Martin had to do was show a hand that had a pair of nines beat and the pot was his. All Martin was able to produce though was {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a busted flush draw and a losing hand.

777 For the Nguyen

Samuel Golbuff raised on the button, Stephanie Nguyen called in the big blind and the flop came down {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Nguyen checked, Golbuff continued, and Nguyen raised. Golbuff called.

The turn was the {8-Spades}, Nguyen led, Golbuff raised, and Nguyen called. Both players checked after the {j-Clubs} fell on the river, and Nguyen opened up {k-Hearts}{7-Spades} for trip sevens. Golbuff mucked, and Nguyen raked in the pot.

Scatchard Takes Down Pot with Pure Aggression

David Scatchard opened from early position only to be three-bet by Massimiliano Martinez in late position. Joe Gualtieri made the call from the big blind, Scatchard four-bet, and the other players made the call. Gualtieri checked the {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, opening the door for Scatchard to bet. Once again both his opponents made the call and watched as the {7-Diamonds} hit the turn.

Gualtieri checked, Scatchard bet, Martinez called, and Gualtieri got out of the way. When the {5-Spades} appeared on the river, Scatchard bet, Martinez mucked, and Scatchard took down the pot without showing his cards.

We Need a Ruling

We were able to get to Table 284 just in time to see Sam Grizzle and Gavin Hunt mixing it up. On a board of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} Hunt bet out into Grizzle who quickly called. Again on the {3-Spades} river Hunt bet and Grizzle quickly called.

Hunt sheepishly flipped over {K-}{10-} and Grizzle showed the table {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a pair of sixes. Grizzle pleased that he won the hand exclaimed "I thought we had a rule at this table that no one can bluff". Lucky for Grizzle there was no such rule as he continues to add to his stack.

Forza Limongi

Michele Limongi raised from the cutoff seat, Stephanie Nguyen put in three bets on the button, and Limongi called. Limongi proceeded to check-call the flop ({q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}), the turn ({10-Clubs}), and checked a third time on the river ({q-Spades}). Nguyen fired one last time.

Limongi tank-called, and Nguyen opened up {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for just a pair of sevens. The Italian emphatically spiked {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} on the felt, shouting, "I didn't trust you!" before he broke out in a short, Italian chant of some sort.

Sam Grizzle was none too pleased with the celebration.

"Welp," he muttered from across the table. "I don't speak Italian, so I got no idea what your sayin'."

Limongi paid him no mind, and instead stacked his newfound chips.

Blind vs. Blind

We caught the action in this hand on a {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop. Andrey Zaichecko bet from the small blind and was called by Jesse Chinni in the big. The same action occurred on the {5-Clubs} turn, leading to the {A-Clubs} river. This time Zaichenko checked, Chinni bet, and Zaichenko hit the tank.

He didn't seem happy about making the call, but he did nonetheless. "You win," Chinni immediately declared. Indeed, Zaichenko flipped {J-Spades}{8-Hearts} to take down the pot.

Gryglik Doubles

Mark Gryglik made it two bets on the button, Matt Schreiber called in the big blind, and the flop came down {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Schreiber check-called a bet, and the turn brought the {5-Clubs}. Schreiber led out, Gryglik moved all in for less than two bets, and Schreiber called.

Showdown
Gryglik: {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Schneider: {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Schneider could record the KO with a queen or a deuce, but the river was an {8-Clubs}, and Gryglik shipped the double instead.
