Conservative Play Highlighting This Final Table

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

While Pot-Limit Omaha is generally considered to be an active and aggressive game, today's final table has been typified by single preflop raises forcing folds around the table. Everyone involved appears to have tightened their ranges and the players are looking to find the perfect spot to risk their hard-earned chips with a gold bracelet and nearly $300,000 on the line.

Munger Makes It Rain With Trip Threes

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Jeff Sarwer raised to 32,000 from under the gun and the action folded around to Cody Munger in the big blind, who decided to see the flop. The dealer spread the {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts} across the table and Munger checked to Sarwer.

The former chess prodigy decided to bet 32,000 and Munger check-raised to 76,000. Sarwer showed no hesitation and pushed his entire stack into the middle, forcing Munger all-in if he wanted to continue the hand.

Munger decided to place his last 252,000 at risk and made the call, showing down the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades} for trip threes and a king kicker. Sarwer held the {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} for trip threes as well but his lowly kicker was outgunned by Munger.

After a {9-Hearts} on the turn, Munger's hand remained in the lead and the {10-Clubs} on the river sealed the deal. He doubled up to just under 700,000 with the win, while Sarwer fell to just 285,000.

Patel Booms with a Double

Cody Munger opened the action with a raise to 33,000 from middle position before action fell on Jeff Sarwer in the hijack seat. Sarwer reraised to 76,000. Play folded around to Emil Patel in the small blind and he reraised the pot to 285,000. Action folded back to Sarwer and he thought for a bit, looking pained as he tanked. Eventually, Sarwer said, "All right, I re-pot," and Patel called to put himself all in for 417,000 total. Here's what they revealed.

Patel: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Sarwer: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The flop came down bleak for Sarwer with the {J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} rolling out. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and left Sarwer with just two outs to a set of tens in order to win the hand and eliminate Patel. The river card was the {K-Hearts} and Patel finished with a flush to win the pot and double up.

Payan Powers a Double

From the button, Elie Payan raised the pot to 56,000. Cody Munger called from the big blind and the flop came down {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Munger fired the pot for 120,000 and then Payan called all in for 89,000. He held the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for top set and a flush draw and was up against the {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for Munger.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and added a flush draw for Munger, but the river completed the board with the {A-Spades} and allowed Payan to double up. Still no one gone here at this Event #22 final table after a level and a half of play.

Sarwer Says Checkmate With Set Over Set Flop

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Jeff Sarwer
Jeff Sarwer

After Cody Munger opened for 33,000 before the flop, Jeff Sarwer, Elie Payan, and Rafe Kibrit all made the call.

Flop: {8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

First to act, Payan led out for a pot-sized bet of 132,000 and Munger released his hand. Sarwer immediately declared "re-pot" and shoved his entire stack of 494,000 into the middle. Kibrit got out of the way and Payan decided to make the call, putting Sarwer at risk for his tournament life.

Showdown:

Payan: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Sarwer: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Both players had flopped sets but Sarwer was in command with his three queens. The {5-Spades} filled both players up and eliminated any draw possibilities. Payan would now need to spike the case eight to come from behind and eliminate Sarwer.

River: {6-Spades}

With that, Sarwer had scored a majore double up and now sits with over 1,100,000 chips, while Payan took a significant hit to his stack.

Patel: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Wolfe: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and the river the {6-Spades}, keeping Wolfe in the lead and allowing him to double through Patel.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and Sands checked. Kibrit fired 57,000 and Sands gave it up.
